  1. I owned a Mono bag for a guitar & they are quite nice, but their accessories are pricey, IIRC the little pouch you can attach to the D-rings is $200 USD!
  2. She endorsed a relief fund in Thailand & helped a friend of mine in radio raise some money for that. ICYMI she has a FB group where she posts updates daily: https://www.facebook.com/Suziquatrorocks latest is a sad one, Ray Beavis is leaving the fold: https://www.facebook.com/Suziquatrorocks/posts/304140264414821
  3. For a moment I thought Louisiana had a Philharmonic 😀 G'Day & welcome aboard!
  4. Sanctuary released their debut album on 26 April, so: This track is off their comeback album from 2014.
  5. I put together a bass from parts of 3 basses a couple of years ago, finally sold it a few months ago, which inspired this thread: I don't generally have emotional attachment to inanimate objects, but I suppose I'm an anomaly.
  6. I read a paper by a psychologist about Acquisition Syndrome & they claim it's because our human mind tricks us into thinking we conquered a thing, just by acquiring it. Right now I have more books than I will likely read before I keel over, but I take a tiny bit if pride in owning every book in the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles. I found that prolific poster's FB profile, the super-GASser, he spends a lot of time in shops recording himself playing basses. That's gained him quite the following. I can't decided if I want to be friends with him or block him, LOL!
  7. I've seen the Big Singles in a couple of BTBs, but it certainly wasn't the norm. The EHB is an amalgamation of SR/BTB features under current production. It's also The Most comfortable instrument I've ever owned, & that includes a Mikro bass & guitars.
  8. the crossover features: neck is between a SR & a BTB, a little thicker than a SR, but not as thick as a BTB (this actually helps make it Almost as stiff as a BTB neck, along with the Graphite reinforcement) locking output jack (a BTB feature that they used on EHB) stainless frets (BTB was doing it first AFAIK, & now a few SoundGear have them) Nordstrand from the SR side, but this time split-coil humbuckers (BTB use humbuckers exclusively) new (neither BTB nor SR): sweepable mids (it's actually the same preamp unit, but with an additional module)
  9. A 5-string BTB could be over 10 lbs., I owned a 4-string BTB300 that was 9-3/4. Get a EHB, it's a friendly cross between a BTB & a SoundGear, & my 4-string eHB1500 is only 6-3/4 lbs.:
  10. LW = LaceWood top: https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/BTB1905LW If you want to compare weights, look at SweetWater dot com, they have the weights of those in stock. Except right now they have crazy low stock. I can tell you I've only ever seen a single BTB that was lower Mass than a SoundGear, & I should have bought it.
  11. I would swerve Sadowsky if you want something low-Mass, Sadowsky himself has stated openly that if you have neck-dive with one of his basses, it's not a design problem, it's a strap problem.
  12. Most who've met J.P. think he's a great guy: https://www.pattayamail.com/features/great-night-out-at-jesters-gala-party-30575
  13. Hang the two basses on the walls, it helped free up room for me:
  14. Not instant, but if you go against one of the most prolific posters with the worst case of G.A.S., then that person will be on the lookout if you happen to mock the cultural slang they enjoy using.
  15. You should hop right over there & try it on, let us know how it goes.
  16. You should hop right over there & try it on, let us know how it goes.
  17. It's exactly The Matter, & why I used an example that unfortunately got everyone on the 'why do you care about their spending?' tangent. How many families can't put their kids in college, because of all the money that's been blown on G.A.S.? I'd wager it's more than we'd be comfortable knowing. Yet we encourage it, every chance we get, THAT is my point. Exactly, except about the investment, because they're all bottom-tier stuff. I pretend to be happy for the person, but I'm just hiding my derision. You can't just blurt out: "You have a problem dude, a serious problem!" Online it's like a badge of courage for the owners, hey look at my room FULL of pricey stuff, LOL! 'Which of my XX basses should I take to the show?' threads, humble bragging? If a person can afford to have a large collection w/o affecting their ability to provide for their family, of course there's no issue. but I've seen the posts from guys commenting about how they should stop G.A.S.-ing so they can afford to put their kid through college (everyone still encourages them to keep buying, except me) College debt lasts for decades if you take out those loans.
  18. You're fine, but this was turning into a 'why do you care how people spend their money?', because I made an example, an EXAMPLE!
  19. re: re-stringing a EHB Some have had trouble with the winding slipping off the core & they're going to the trouble of modifying tools to hold the string & using the word 'literally' far too often. The simple solution, is to bend the wire 90 degrees, before pulling it taut & cutting it. Some string manufacturers include this instruction with their strings.
  20. FWIW, I'm not commenting about wealthy people, the ones I have in mind specifically probably couldn't afford to change all the the strings on all their instruments. Maybe that's where guideline should be: "Can I afford to buy strings for ALL these instruments?!" If we can't be honest about how we feel about G.A.S. on a bass-players forum, where can we? I'm more on about how we're 'training' one another that it's perfectly acceptable to just keep on buying gear. We should be telling them to stop shopping & learn to use what they already have.
  21. Get read to step away from traditional if you're serious about extra low-Mass instruments. My EHB1500 is just over 3,000 Grams: If you can handle the sound of a Hofner, they're probably half that:
