  1. I honestly think it's just confirmation bias, no one wants to pay $250 USD for something & not get a dramatic improvement. (but I was skeptical of that outcome when TWO folks claimed the same thing)
  2. I've been in those 'discussions' many times on another forum, people won't even take heed of Electrical Engineers, so I don't have a chance of convincing anyone, LOL! I will comment that IF you heard a difference, either it's confirmation bias OR the wire you were using before was total crap, either too small of a diameter or not actually Copper.
  3. My impression of Aguilar is scOOped, which seems to be a goal for them. Some like it, I don't.
  4. I wouldn't Polish any of mine, but I might Czech them. It's true however, I've only had natural-finish instruments for years now, I was a little angry when the local luthier polished the wood smell right off my new SR1800E.
  5. Now I really wish Aged Horse had joined us, to comment about super-expensive speaker-cables. I have an opinion, based on facts about Electricity, that users of those will not enjoy, but I will keep it to myself.
  6. I must have ordered pots THREE times & each time none of them would fit, so I ended up buying the bespoke pots from the local Ibanez dealer, $25 USD for 2, most of which was the FedEx charges. NOT related to the GSR100EX mentioned above
  7. I changed out the same pots in a GSR100EX & could not hear a difference. The pots in my Premium Soundgear are exactly the same ones that were in in the cheapest model of SRX that I had.
  8. I wonder if Koreans complain that almost no one outside Korea pronounces Samsung correctly.
  9. They don't do it (eye) in South or Central America 😀
  10. Vintage instruments cost more, so the MUST be better, correct? I think a lot of that is just confirmation bias, you don't want to pay a lot for an item like that & then realize it doesn't sound or play better than a much cheaper recently-produced one.
  11. Ibáñez has drifted the farthest, the original pronunciation was I-Bahn-Yez. Not Ai for "i", but I as in stIck
  12. I don't really know, but being an advanced player justifies owning a hoard of them? or maybe you're implying that he spends more time tinkering & shopping than practicing, which is something I used to do Claims he builds them, but I think he's just assembling parts basses. Oh wait, a recent comment was that he only plays a couple of times/month, damn!
  13. In case anyone had wondered, I am positive that the wood can make a difference in the timbre, I've witnessed it myself & I'm damn near tone-deaf, so if I can hear it,,, Related or Adjacent, the Finish can even make a difference, Poly vs. Lacquer, & I also firmly believe that the less finish there is on there, the better it will sound. (also derived from my first-hand experience) I'm still miffed that Geek99 drops in to comment they're no longer following w/o even sharing an opinion or their experience, but to imply they do have experience. Weird!
  14. The local rep. told me they had specific instructions about the pronunciation at their training with D'Addario/Planet Waves. If you call their number, you can hear the way they pronounce it. Almost everyone pronounces RickenBACKer incorrectly, as well.
  15. Sometimes my odd tendencies pay off. I'm always on the lookout for deals on strings & I will buy them up. Right now I have a box of about 5 sets, DR & EB. Now that I'm primarily using the EHB there's no excuse for not changing stings more often, as it's dead easy! (just looked in the box & there's also 1 D'Addario balanced-tension set) pronounced duh-dairy-oh
  16. This is where you started going off the rails & we all should have just stopped responding. You're insulting our ability to read & comprehend & then you did it to me directly later. Today I was opening doors for little old ladies, & helped the blind to see, but:
  17. I avoided internet discussions about bass for a month, & one of the things glaring at me when I came back was this, the obsession with buying, hoarding even, & encouraging others to do the same. There's a guy in a small bass group I'm in that seems to really get off on mentioning he has almost 20 basses & is working getting X more soon. I guess we're supposed to be envious, but I feel the opposite. I try to respect his wishes & perspective, but he crashes my conversations to interject how many he owns, weird!
  18. ahem, spraying directly onto the plug & then plugging & unplugging yay or nay?
  19. You just keep digging, but w/o fruition. You're clearly just grasping at straws now, or maybe you're already in bed. Anyway, have that great weekend, & lighten up.
  20. You're gonna pretend like I'm the one who is having trouble comprehending? You've been off the mark since the outset, have a good weekend!
  21. Solid-Body Electric instruments are quite different from Acoustic, as there's no soundhole. Resonance acts in a directly opposing manner. Physics is the reason:
  22. I've been exclusively Ibanez for years now, sold my Rickenbacker 4004 because it was too heavy, sold my G&L ASAT for neck-dive, bought a L-2000 w/o neck-dive, but it was 350 Grams higher-Mass than the SR1800E (before I put low-Mass machine-heads on the Ibanez), & I could NOT cope with the 9-/12" radius on the L-2000, and then there was the giant 4-inline headstock that I don't enjoy anymore. The headless is the anti-thesis of the L-2000, but those Big-Splits are damn good!
  23. Ah good, someone cares, LOL! EHB1500 (best instrument I've ever owned, & I've owned Rickenbacker, U.S. G&L: sold: Ibanez Mikro (in a guitar case) GSR100EX (built from the parts of 3 basses) GSR (Gio) on the left, & I still own the SR1800E on the right (tuned B-Standard for Type-O-Negative) Had that same VOX amp for a few years now, my other 'amp' is plugging a USB interface into my Lenovo Thinkpad with Bose speakers.
  24. Purchased: 1 bass Sold: 2 basses although, the 'income' from the two sold was about 15% of the value of the new bass price
  25. The instrument will vibrate the most at its Resonant frequency, which will take away the most vibration energy from the strings, the exact opposite of that (no loss) would be zero vibration from the instrument. Seeking a peak that is the opposite of Resonance seems to me like it would be w/o fruition.
