  1. Get a set of DiMarzio Ultra-Jazz & wire them in parallel. The default wiring configuration is series, but that is where the top-end gets lost, because the coils in series will increase the Inductance, which lowers the resonant peak of the system. Inductance is summed just like Resistance: 2 + 2 in series = 4 2 + 2 in parallel = 1 Inductance will pass low frequencies & block high frequencies Capacitance will block low frequencies (DC) & pass high frequencies the Resonant Peak is where those two meet for the highest output A parallel split-coil humbucker will get you to 90% of the single-coil sound, & TBH in a band setting, no one will be able to hear that additional 10% the single-coils give you. TBH I'm struggling with this dilemma here at home now & will spent a fair bit of time this weekend experimenting with stainless DR Lo-Riders on single-coils & split-coil humbuckers.
  2. Exactly the sort of thing I mean, I saw the meme earlier on FB. Those types of things are SO common in the communities of stringed-instrument players & I assume any type of hobby that includes purchasing gear. Take my example this weekend, I posted asking about bass arrangements to learn in Playing & Technique & got exactly Nada, Zilch. If I had posted about what bass or amp to buy I'd be soliciting responses ALL weekend & into next week.
  3. Legend! https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jan/21/suzi-quatro-at-70-i-zip-up-the-jumpsuit-and-feel-like-me
  4. I've read they have great 'pudding' over there in Yorkshire.
  5. Irony is me, when I'm down I can pick myself up by playing something extra dark, examples: I feel 2 Meter tall when I play that one! Any other dark arrangements out there to learn?
  6. If you like E.B., stick with them: A 0.1" fourth string might be too low of tension if you down-tune to Drop-D, especially in comparison to the other strings.
  7. It's short for Feces Book, because it's full of !@#$ 🤣 The upswing is that you can block people & never have to read their nonsense again. It seems to be the go-to place for bad advice on setting up an instrument, LOL!
  8. The 5-string players on FB like to claim that once you go 5 you never go back. Poppycock!
  9. I have one now that can do BEAD or EADG, but I keep my Premium Soundgear in BEAD, for when I want to channel Peter Steele.
  10. I'm far too obsessive-compulsive to get into pedals, it's like a large puzzle with infinite combinations to 'solve'.
  11. I brought home a shiny new U.S. G&L L-2000 from Guitar Center, for the princely sum of $800 USD. It sounded loads better than my Premium Soundgear Ibanez. After a few days I changed the strings on the Ibanez & a couple of weeks later I returned the G&L, LOL
  12. Dear old dad is an avid fisherman & hunter, & we are polar opposites. He lives in a cabin in the deep dark forest & I lived over a beer garden in Bangkok. The view of the skyscrapers from my flat window was quite nice!
  13. I wanted a hobby that wasn't reading or watching TV. but I hate sports (especially Fishing)
  14. I've owned: Fender G-K Aguilar VOX can't recall any having a Mute button
  15. another new limited edition: https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/detail/sr4cmltd_1p_01.html
  16. I'm looking at a P pickup suggestions thread on FB now, & S.D.'s 1/4 Pound is mentioned SEVERAL times, but never w/o the added ER.
  17. There's two, because I usually catch spelling errors w/o even wanting to, I used to tell folks Chris Squire had sod-all to do with Fender's budget line.
  18. I don't know anything about Eminem, but I see the spelling error, can't believe I missed that!
  19. gone: http://www2.ibanez.com/support/wiringdiagrams Anyone know the new location, or has Ibanez taken that resource from us?
  20. The scene of the 70's was so incestuous in London, I thought it was such a weird coincidence that Chrissie Hynde started out working for NME & Vivienne Westwood. She was nearly thrown into The Clash & some other Punk bands. I had a Welsh friend in Bangkok who was a roadie for The Cult, such a small world in the U.K..
  21. It would have been cool to actually grow up with a scene like that. By the time I got out to L.A. our Glam Metal wave had made way for Grunge.
