Just popped in to reiterate that a 1x15 is a terrible pairing with a 4x10. The 1x15 will not handle the power that that the 4x10 would cruise with and the 4x10 will be able to produce more lows than a single 15.
I bought a pair of Acme B2 two ten three way cabinets. Putting a Low B through them at volume was so delightful I bought another pair! Standing in front of them driven by 2000W is an experience I recommend to any bass player.
Bob, I trust your issues are now behind you. Stay well.
Bilbo, I understand that Mark's equipment is good but I find them somewhat garish!
That said I hope you enjoy your ownership.
I found the best way for me was to attach the casters to a piece of 3/4" ply covered with a piece of carpet thus creating a wheeled dolly. A length of seat belt from a scrapped car allows me to pull the dolly quite easily. The dolly also proved very useful for other moving events.
I'm a little confused. Both transformers in my B15NF are potted units.
As the leads in question are coming off the power transformer it should be easy to identify what they do. Simply untape them and and do resistance checks to the other primary leads to see if they are a primary tap or are off the secondary. Obviously do these checks with the amp unplugged.
I hope you did the math to verify if the new drivers were a suitable match for your existing box. Be careful with a screwdriver in an electric drill. It's far too easy for it to slip and go through the cone. (Ask me how I know!)
I've always preferred to use external effects. That way if you find a combination that works for you then you can easily transfer to possibly a more powerful amplifier should need arise or if you enter an open stage.
May I humbly wish you good fortune with the build? If you do the science properly you should arrive at a good result.
It's a great feeling using the system on stage for the first time and it making you smile!
Steve, I know there's a time difference between New York and the UK but ten years is a little much don't you think?
Don't you have snow to shovel? We sure do here in Toronto!!!
Aside from that, welcome to Bass Chat!
