  1. If I may point out that the physical position of the volume control has no bearing on the power the amp id putting out. It may well be producing its maximum output at 2 on the scale. All depends on how hot the input signal is.
  2. I like tubes. When I went to Engineer School they were current technology. If I had a choice I would still be using full tube amps. BUT age crept up on me and my tube amps just got to be unmanageable. Something had ti give. The route I followed was a 2KW capable class D Stereo power amp to drive my Acme Sound B2 2x10 three way cabinets. I usually use two in a vertical skinny stack at 4Ω per channel. If I want more I can run all four for 2Ω per channel. I designed and built a two channel tube pre-amp to drive the power amp and the whole system sounds very good.
  3. Good point IF the venue actually HAS a PA system and a competent sound man to run it. Over here such luxurties are few and far between!
  4. @Scot 999 The OP hasn't been back since the day he joined up so I guess nothing we say is of interest to him. Sad that!
  5. Ah but! .... can it handle a six string?
  6. Just for interest how did the board in your amp get damaged?
  7. In my mind a player should buy transportation that will carry his/her musical equipment. You are doing things backward!
  8. Hello @Scott 999 - is anybody out there?
  9. What you have done is pass all the love stored by this speaker cabinet on to a new player. Hopefully he/she will rise to that history and make you proud.
  10. OK You've had more than a day - what news?
  11. Bill, If you did drive that fast the New Hampshire cops would be on you pretty quick I think.
  12. Hmmm... I didn't know I was complaining! LOL
  13. Just as a thought: does the amp have an Effects Loop? If it does then try linking the Send and Return jacks with a signal cable. The normalizing contacts on these jacks are notorious for corrosion because they are not used that often. When this happens they fail to pass a signal through the loop.
  14. Thy a different speaker cable would be the first step. A speaker cabinet can be easily checked for operation by using a jack cable into the cabinet and touching the terminals of a 9V battery across the other end. Should produce a hearty thump from the speakers.
  15. Simplest is to measure the 2x10 and build two boxes half the size of the 2x10. That way the speakers should be happy in their new home.
  16. I worked at Automatic Telephones on Edge Lane whilst going to engineer school. While playing for Earl Preston's Reflections I met the girl who became my wife at a venue somewhere off Queens Drive called Nalgo on June 6TH 1968. Earl Preston, real name George Spruce, was a Merseybeat personality. LOL
  17. Too much partying at the Cavern?? Does that place even exist anymore?
  18. Keep us informed of your progress.
  19. As someone who went SpeakON only many years ago I wonder at the negative thoughts they cause. Jack plugs when plugged in and out short circuit the speaker outs on the amp. These are very harmful the the health of the amplifier. SpeakONs have solved that problem. They also prevent the use of signal cables os speaker leads. Win - win in my book!
  20. People are allowed to protect their intellectual property and this includes schematic diagrams. If there is something "special" within that diagram sending out copies willy nilly means that anyone can clone that piece of 'special" rendering it worthless.
  21. Make sure that the amplifier sleeve doesn't block any ventilation holes in the amp's case. You don't want the amp to overheat in use.
  22. I would contact Epifani and ask them for the schematic. If nothing else they could suggest a place to take the amp to for repair. In future take the amp home with you to prevent unauthorized use. Is the guilty player going to cough up for the repair?
