  1. Use a 9V battery across the speaker lead and watch how the cones react. If one moves in with the battery positive against the tip of the jack and the other moves out they are not operating with the same polarity.
  2. And?
  3. Nah! Basschat is much better. At least they allow me to be a member!! LOL
  4. Let's ask the man himself: @agedhorse
  5. The Yorkville/Traynor factory is just a couple of miles along Kingston Road from my home.
  6. Tweeters do not hiss or fizz, amps do that! The tweeter only reproduces what the amplifier sends it.
  7. The tubes in my Ampeg B15NF have been in there for approaching twenty years. The amp will tell you when it needs retubing.
  8. That's a pretty bass, Loverly in fact!.
  9. I prefer my lovely B15NF. It makes me smile just to look at it. Ampeg do make good amplifiers!
  10. When you do visit stop off in Toronto and I'll buy you a beer - or two.
  11. Peavey always have had a reputation for honesty!
  12. Just for interest, as Canada is a big donkey country, be more specific!! LOL I used a colloquial term A S S and the post was changed to donkey! That made my day, I needed a good laugh! Edit to add: many people around the world have no idea of the sheer size of this country. On my father's first trip to visit us in Toronto he asked if we could take a day trip to see the Rockies. It broke my heart to tell him they were as far away from Toronto as he had just flown from the UK. I miss him dreadfully.
  13. Does the amp have an effects loop? If yes connect send and return with a short signal cable and see if that helps.
  14. Here I go: You'd be far better served if you put the 15 atop the 4x10. Then you could actually hear it's cries of paid as it fails
  15. They need servicing when they stop working until then leave the thing alone.
  16. @Alanbass If you want to get a user's attention put an "@" in front of his/her user name.
  17. @ardi100 I gave you a 'like' just for the use of the word crestfallen! Not often you see that on these pages!
  18. I too m happy that you sorted out your problem. YEA!!!
  19. A quick question if I may, @Tjohnlee did you consider the impedance of the old and new drivers?
  20. In very simplified terms what is happening is that when you pull the plug out of the instrument the whole instrument becomes akin to an antenna for collecting hum from anywhere it can and thus the noise. I always pull my instrument cable part way out of the jack on the amplifier before unplugging from the instrument.
  21. @binky_bass at least that loverly bass has the correct number of strings!!
  22. That was my first thought too. if they got that fact wrong what else did they fudge? Seriously if you want quality you'll have to pay more than ninety bucks for it!
  23. 100W @8Ω won't take you too far with a bass. It wouldn't get one of my Acme B2 cabinets even going.
