  1. The Echo send and return are in essence the same as an effects send and return.
  2. A vertical array of 10" drivers is typically better than the standard 4x10 enclosure. I use a pair of 2x10s stacked for a vertical array of the drivers.
  3. You'll need a few EQ slider pots too. As the English Trace Elliot is a long time defunct you'll have difficulty find spare parts. I hope our brothers and sisters in the UK may be able to help you. Good luck. Edit: Doing a quick search on Trace Elliot spare parts produced several companies in the UK that seem to offer them.
  4. I got mine in Frank Hessy's store in Liverpool in 1968. I walked in and saw my stolen Gibson EB0F hanging on a wall. I was so gobsmacked seeing it that I barely noticed one of my best friends trying out a Precision. A few months later on I bought the bass from him for 50 quid. (I'm not sure how to get the pound symbol on my Mac) A few months later on June 06 I was playing a gig with it when I met the girl who became my wife. She still is! LOL And I still own the Precision too!
  5. But did they give you their seal of approval?
  6. Nancy, your Precision is looking a little worse for wear! Similar to my '63 Precision.
  7. I left tube output stages behind many years ago. My current amplifier is a 2KW capable Class D power amp driven by a tube pre-amp I designed. Tubes were current technology when I was at baby engineer school! LOL
  8. T add to Bill's comment stack the cabinets with the drivers vertically aligned not side by side. They just work better that way!
  9. Probably something like a self resetting Polyswitch which are now used in my Acme cabinets replacing the lamp.
  10. 15W doesn't go too far when using a bass in this day and age. That said if it functions well for what you are using it for then enjoy!!
  11. I don't trust the advertised power ratings of TCE products so I'd go with the Ampeg. Besides I get a kick out of playing through my Ampeg B15NF.
  12. Whatever the cab is if it has a pair of drivers stack the cab so that they are vertically aligned. It's better that way.
  13. Well you can't have everything!! LOL
  14. Stack that one the other way up! QED.
  15. Using both outputs into the same cabinet is not always safe. Some SS amps have two power amps always wired in bridge. The outputs are not the same and connecting both to one cabinet will destroy both power amps.
  16. Only if you have poor quality speaker cables and have suffered failures in the past. In my sixty odd years of gigging I have yet to have a speaker cable fail on me! Truthfully, as I make mine myself, I'd be insulted if one failed! LOL
  17. Both connections are basically the same. Make sure the combined impedance does not fall below the MicroVR's minimum impedance.
  18. I should also mention that all my power amps are 2Ω stable per channel.
  19. Hi @Roger... welcome to the world of the bass. You will find that it's completely different from that of the guitar. Don't try to get a cabinet that fills out the amplifiers impedance to its minimum. If your amp will handle a 2Ω load then a 4Ω cabinet gives you room to add another 4Ω cabinet down the road. If the amp has a 4Ω minimum then look for an 8Ω cabinet. so you have room to add another. I don't know of the Gnome series products, I use a pair of Acme B2 2x10 three way cabinets each 4Ω stacked on their ends for a vertical 4x10. I am able to hear myself easily and dispersion out into the room is much improved by the vertical array. Good luck with your venture into Bassdom.
  20. As soon as you sell that Ampeg unit you'll come across a band to play with and have to buy again. You could use a trick from the guitar players and pull the two outer power tubes and run the amp at half power., not an ideal match but at practice volumes you should be fine.
  21. In solid stae amplifiers it's vital that the output devices are cooled. that requires either large heatsinks or smaller with a fan pushing air across them. It's what we have to live with. Class D are more efficient and generate less heat that is more easily disposed of.
  22. I never understood why they called it Football when the oval 'ball' seems to be carried most of the time! the US has the National Football League NFL and here in Canada we have the Canadian Football League CFL. Edit: At school I was required to play Rugby. I hated the game! Grammar schools seemed to play Rugby whilst lesser schools played football. I always wondered about that! I knew that if the ball ever came to me it was prudent to get rid of the thing before I was crushed by burly guys on the other team! The 'Beautiful Game' is called Soccer. At the moment the ladies teams are being badly treated by the league and haven't even been paid yet for the 2022 season. Disgusting!!
  23. Their tube amps were popular as a chassis for modifications and customization. I've done a few myself.
  24. Built in the town of Pickering a couple of miles further East along Kingston Road from where I live.
