Electric drum pads seem to work quite well. You can assign certain samples to each pad and the drummers triggers everything. Roland and Korg make them. Alternative is some sort of sampling keyboard. Again, assign the sample to a certain key/bank and trigger it when you need to. Things get more difficult if you're using time sensitive samples (extra instrument/vocal parts). One way is to play to a click and run a track (with all the samples on it) for the duration of the song. If you just want to utilise sound effects and keep it simple, a drummer-triggered sample pad is the easier and cheapest way to do it. Sample pads tend to have a massive library of percussion, vocal sounds and sound effects built in. Loads of fun there! Truckstop
Thanks for your advice! Any particular trigger pad recommendation? I forgot to add that it will be down to our singer to do all the triggering.

We are in the process of adding a kind of atmospheric/electronic side to complement our band's music. This is new for us so not sure how to get this done in a live setting. Any ideas on how to trigger samples/loops when playing live? It will be down to our singer to do all the triggering. Anyone out there doing it? If so, how, please?

I've been listening to this band a lot lately, not sure they've been mentioned before:
still after one of those Basstards? Depending on how things pan out with the Darkglass and whether the RATM band dies or not (it's been dying slowly over the past few months), I might be persuaded to let it go... you'll be the first to know The Darkglass Vintage should be with me tomorrow, or Monday if I miss the delivery. I have a gig on Thursday that I could use it for... so I should be having fun with it soon... I'll report back.
I'm sure you are going to love the Vintage so much....
I could not resist it... so I just ordered one too..... At the moment I am using a range of distortion/overdrives, and I hope the Vintage will help me rationalise my "collection": OKKO Basstard, which is great for fat heavily distorted sounds I'd sell it to Pablo
Fixed that for you Jose Let us know how you get on with the Vintage, I might get me one to go with my B7K

Cheers guys. I did place a thread on here saying I was looking for a Black Badass bridge, it's bee up for a long time but no luck. Enamel black spray? Can it be applied to chrome well, will it look OK? So Gotoh is a no then, I prefer a low action.

I have posted this thread in a different section, I think the wrong one, so here it is again: I want to replace the Badass II bridge I have on my Geddy Lee bass for a black one, I know you can find black Badass brudges but they are bl**dy expensive! Has anyone tried these? http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1438.l2649 Another option is the Gotoh 201 but I have read that getting a low action might be difficult? Last option I have in mind is going with a traditional Fender type of bridge, which one do you recommend and where can I buy it from? Thanks for your help in advance.

Bergantino CN212 vs Genz Benz NX2-212T vs BF Super 12T
Perfect match is the DB cabs, of course. There was a 410 here recently... but I run 2xDB210's and the sound is awesome.
That was my cab I liked the sound but the weight was too much....I'm looking for more lightweight cabs this time. -

Bergantino CN212 vs Genz Benz NX2-212T vs BF Super 12T
PauBass replied to tonyf's topic in Amps and Cabs
Gigged my Genz NX2 212t tonight. The drummer commented that the new cab was the best bit of the night hehe. I'm super pleased with it. The rig was Warwick Thumb, SVT 7pro and the NX2. The cab has great bottom end with real girth and excellent definition. I'd agree with Ed in that it's not this all enveloping wall of fluff that overpowers everything else. The mids are really nice and punchy and every note pops out and a smooth clear top end. If anything there was slight lack of sparkle right at the very top end but that could be due to the very well worn in SIT Silencers on the Bass, they're almost like TI's. On the amp the Bass was cut to about 11oclock, Mids at 800hz boosted to 2 oclock and Treble at about 2 oclock. No treble of bass boost on the buttons. The best thing about was that I could hear it !! Being pretty deaf I've struggled to hear every waist height cab I've owned, these inc Tech 410's 212's, various 410's,and it was a big concern throwing £700 at a new cab but thankfully that wasn't the case with the NX2. I was wondering if I should have put the other £200 towards the Berg but hey. Colour me happy.
Nice review! Just wondering if these Genz Benz cabs will be a good match for an Aguilar DB750 -
Is there no warranty with this pedal? I just got it in a box with no paperwork/ instructions etc. Is this the way they normally are delivered? I hope I didn't get one someone had sent back!!
Darkglass pedals come with no paperwork, I believe for ecological reasons. I've had the B3K and now have the B7K and both came just in the box. On their website you have all the info on how to use the pedal and what each control does.
Please let me know how it is! I'm excited to get one but at the same time I'm going to cry myself to sleep if it doesn't have the same magic as the B3K I sold to hamfist.
I had the B3K and I liked it but I found it a tad too bright for my liking so I ended up selling it, I now have the B7K and...it's awesome! The EQ controls take it to a whole new level, you can pretty much get any sound you want out of it, from vintage to more modern and cutting overdriven/distorted tones. Yo can also use it, if you wish as a clean preamp.....well worth the extra money. Plus it makes the rest of my pedals sound much better when I run them through the B7K.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Velcro-Heavy-Duty-Stick-Black-VEL60241/dp/B00186Q9AK I also tried pedalboard tape and didn't like it, fine if you don't need to move your pedals otherwise when you take your pedals off the board the tape remains stuck together and will peel off from your pedals as Plunkrock has mentioned.

As an example today I received a parcel from the States, valued at $49. Total to pay was £8 Royal Mail handling fee and £6.45 VAT Now the funny thing is that I wasn't home yesterday when the postman arrived so I got the card, it didn't say anything about paying any money so I went today to collect it. The man at the desk scanned the parcel and when he was handing it to me said, there's a charge of £14.65, I was about to reach for my wallet when the guy said "nevermind"
I find the B3 tracks as well if not better than my old Deep Impact on the Synth and Octavers/ Pitch shift modules. However that wasn't the case when I first tried the factory presets. Since then I wiped all of the default patches and volume matched every patch to bypass before rebuilding from scratch. Tracking now excellent. Before the wipe I was having to boost/compress the volume prior to the synths/octavers which helped. I never found the Deep Impact to track that well on most patches. I found the Octave good for tracking but I felt it was a little too good and didn't sit too well with the original signal live. I do find the sheer number of effects on the B3 to be incredibly versatile and there's quite a few original sounds to be created by mixing and matching. The Q-Tron clone, for instance, sounds better to my ears than my real Q-Tron.
...I agree the B3 is a great unit, that's why I also have one On the tracking issue on the SB1, I have never, never had a problem on mine.
-
I have one, I didn't pay anywhere near that price, and I think it's a super bit of kit! I have a Zoom B3, as it's been mentioned, and it's in no way comparable with all the tracking issues it suffers from. The Akai tracks really, really well, and I play tuned down to C# No way I bought it because of Muse, I like it because it's small, offers a good range of synth sounds and it's very easy to set up. It's become an important part of my sound, using it on its own or together with distortion when I need very big sounds! I tried with different pedal combinations and never got the sound I can get out of my SB1, and I have all in one little box rather than three
