Seriously considering the 5 Pro now guys. Thanks! I´m using a Mesa 400+ at the moment, would this be good move?
The 4 and the 5 although completely different beasts (indeed the clean channel schematic is completely different) - Tonally they still have the 'Ampeg' thing going on. I think they both sound great - good full tone and have plenty of options tonally - obviously as you have pointed out, the 5 has the dirty channel that you can run on it's own, or mixed with the clean channel (or clean on it's own) - I think with even just a few minutes of playing you can find a good crunchy bite - all the way too out and out filth! - You *can* make the distortion sound grotty if that's your thing - but with a bit of experience you can get the drive to sit in the mix with the clean sound and it sounds great. Do I think you could do the same with a pedal - well - no, unless you *start* with something like an M80 that allows you to mix in the clean bass tone as well - and even then, you may not have EQ on both signals as you would with the SVT 5 of course - unless you started adding more and more pedals. I rather like the idea of having everything in one box! On the flipside - The 5 distortion channel can not cover ALL the distortion type bases and thus you may feel you want to use a different distortion in a pedal to cover those tones - e.g. Catalinbread SFT / BDDI / Big Muff. Yep, it's the same preamp - and the SVT 5 has an Octaver thrown in too. It is very good.

The 5 definitely has the more options and flexibility, if that wasn't obvious in my rambling!
Thanks for your advice Dood...I gather you prefer the 5 then? I think I'm sold on the SVT 5. I'd like a crunchy tone, not too clean, not too dirty either. I remember seeing on Youtube a video from Matt Freeman, Rancid, talking about his gear and he was playing through a 5 Pro...The tone was amazing, clean but with that great crunchy bite.
Well, I've owned two SVP preamps - which the SVT4 Pro shares with the mighty SVT2 Pro (which I have also owned) and think they sound great! I've not used the SVT 4 myself, ut I can't imagine it would sound too much different to the SVP with a power amp. Stag has just gotten an SVT5 Pro and have to say that sounded impressive, so all round - I like 'em!
Since you've tried, listened to the two of them: How would you compare the SVT 4 and 5? Just talking about the sound not the specs, combinations, wattage, etc... Is the drive channel any good on the 5? Or you'd be better off with the 4 and a pedal to add the overdrive?

I have also been thinking of joining a covers band and try and make some money, I have all the gear, transport and I'm ready to go...Any ideas where to start looking?

I've played a few Warwicks over the years and for me the one is the Streamer Stage II, very easy and comfortable to play, great tone at your hands and looks good too...I find some Warwicks look a bit odd.

I can't find one of the emails I received last week but, if I remember correctly, it cots $259 and you can pay yearly, every semester or monthly...I'll see if I can find the email to confirm it.

I can't believe this bass is still around, specially at that price! Fernandes, in my opinion, are very, very under rated but they are great instruments, from the sound to the finishes, I'd say better than many other well known brands out there. I used to own a Gravity Deluxe a few years ago and I always regretted selling it, it was a great bass...now I have a black Gravity Deluxe 5 on the way, should be with me on Tuesday Good luck with the sale.
what a cracking looking bass, some really good musicman stuff about right now, shame i'm skint have a bump on me
Cheers!
not in need of a kidney o anything of that sort are you?
Not at the moment...I think
How many owners has it had? Why, (apart from you) do people buy it and sell it so quickly? Are there any issues with it apart from the crack? I sold my 2EQ recently and looking at this feeling that I might have made a mistak...
Yes, it's had a few owners and I can't tell you why they sold it but but I do can say that I don't want to sell it, it's an awesome bass! The only reason for me selling it is that I need to raise some cash and I'm not prepared to part with my Wal Custom II or my '77 Jazz Bass so this one has to go. There are no issues with the bass at all, apart from those cracks on the finish coat, the bass is in mint condition, it looks new and sounds and plays beautifully. And now I have to add that the bass is...ON HOLD -
I'm learning to use Photoshop I thought I had mentioned on my post they were from a previous seller...I hope you don't mind me using them. The bass is in the same condition as it was and I can' get good pictures of the bass, not enough natural light in my flat -
Oh god! I had a stingray HH in this colour and it truly does look AMAZING, photos do this finish no justice at all! Fantastic price too, should be snapped up!
You are 100% right, pics do not really show how beautiful the colour of the bass is, it's so difficult to get it to show on the pics. Some more pics from a previous seller..Hope he doesn't mind... Lovely bass, quite tempted to get it back
I don't want to sell it at all, it's an awesome bass! My situation is changing and I have to sell it, no way I can keep it. -
Well guys, here is this lovely bass up for sale again...Yes, again, and I'm so gutted, I haven't had it for long and I'm completely in love with this bass I would love to keep it, it's a great bass but needs force me to sell it. It's a 2008 Limited Edition Musicman Sterling HH in Sequoia Gold with a maple neck. The bass is in excellent condition, it really looks like new and the only minor blemish it's is a small hairline crack in the finish coat just by the battery compartment. It is just in the finish and not affecting the wood at all. The bass comes in it's Limited edition Musicman hard case in fake lizard skin and it's currently strung a set of DR Black Beauties. It plays beautifully, so easy and comfortable to play and sounds even better. The combination of twin MM Humbuckers, the 3 band EQ and the 5 way pickup selector makes this bass a very versatile axe, from Stingray tones to more Jazz and Precision and anything in between. A few pics here. Please, scroll down to post #5 for more pictures of this beauty: I'm based in Hove, East Sussex, and selling price is £800. No trades this time, sorry.

Wow, those look great! I'd love a Black & Maple PJ, a Natural with blocks Jazz 5 and a Black & Maple with blocks Jazz 4, please.. I'd have loved to see the PJ with jazz necks profiles instead
If it's an 11-year old natural maple beauty with red Sims LEDs and an original Bass Centre gig bag then I'd say 8-900 quid would be a fair price... Just a wild guess...but there's an outside chance it might match this description??
I don't think we are talking about the same bass but why are you asking? 8-£900? I'd be interested in knowing where's for sale that bass you are talking about
-
I might be buying a Streamer Stage II 5 strings, I'm very tempted, and I wanted to ask you how much do they sell for...What's a fair price for a used one? No hardcase included, just a gig bag. Cheers

I'm not sure it has already been mentioned but, have you seen the new Fender Bass Fuzz pedal? The Fender Sub-Lime... See here: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0234500005 You tube demo pedal demo...funny bass used too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj1JGyhGKMw I have to say I like the sound and the option to set the crossover frequency wherever you want the fuzz to happen low-frequency, high-frequency, but the size of the pedal maybe a drawback, far too big I think.

For sale subforum - shouldn't people have to put their location up?
PauBass replied to XB26354's topic in General Discussion
I agree that location needs to be known but, as someone mentioned in a similar post a while ago, why not stick it in your profile too?...That way you know straight away where the person is based.
