Hey Pablo, I'm a huge fan of the DB750...that thing is just the epitome of tone!!! Toasted actually used to run one through an NV610 as it happens. So hopefully he'll be able to give you some input. I played through the rib once and was impressed with how it all sounded. Jam
Thanks for the advice mate! Let's see if Toasted can give us some more advice. Anyone else can help, please?

I'm using at the moment an Ampeg SVT Classic and I'm thinking of moving to Aguilar or Genz Benz, a DB750/751 or GB1200 I've read so many good things about them but I've never tried any of the two. I play mainly in rock bands ala Deftones, Incubus... and the cab I'll be using is my Bergantino NV610. Is it a good move? Are they comparable in any way? What can I expect? Thanks in advance for your help

I've lost the manual for the Boss LS-2 and I need a bit of help here. I want to try two things with the two amp rig: 1- Run the two amps on all the time, one clean and add the effects just on the second one when needed. 2- Have one amp clean at all times and only kick in the second amp with the effects as required. Can I do it with the LS-2? If so, what are the right pedal settings for each option?

Excellent stuff, love his playing and I agree with Sibob, great to see someone soloing on the lower register. Which bas is he playing? A custom one I assume? Body shape is from a 4 string but it has 5 strings instead.
I've got an interested party from Italy who wants to buy a pedal from me. I've never sold or posted anything abroad before - does anyone know if there are any hidden charges or indeed anything in particular I need to look out for? Thanks
No extra charges within the EU.

Interesting post....Same problem here! I thought it was only the basses I've owned the ones that had this problem. I've always found the sound on the E string on different P basses I've owned a bit dull/muddy even when trying different string brands. As it's been pointed out, I've had to crank up the presence, high mids or trebele but then it resulted on the rest of the strings being to clanky... It gets even worst if you d-tune! As much as I like the soud of a P bass, it's always been a major draw back and the reason I always favour jazz basses instead.
Hi guys, Well, a bit of an impulse purchase at Electro today. Happened on one of the new Sterling Ray 34's in a fetching solid black. Very nice bass, excellent Indonesian construction and quality control. It plays and sounds just like the American bass. Changed over the Ernie Ball (not very) slinkys & put on some DR Sunbeam 45's. Too heavy for me, but they'll do until I can get some lighter fatbeams on there. Also reset the neck with just the slightest hint of relief, so it's very fast and playable now (apart from the barge rope strings!) Preamp is epic with massive highs and lows. Best Ray of any kind I've played in a long time! Very very impressed! Will take some pics tomorrow & maybe do a review...
That's a beautiful bass you have there! I love it: black, rosewood and matching headstock .... Awesome! What's the neck like? Same dimensions as on a Stingray? Also unfinished?

looking into having a seperate cab for my distortion sound
well its a video of the bassist from clatter talking bout her rig, which is insane! here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6HbKRkPnpA andy
Very good and informative video...Thanks! -
Basically, you just need to decide whether you want one cab clean ALL the time or not? If you do, then split the signal before any effects, and only apply them to the effected cab. If you want some effects to go to both amps, then split the signal after them. Should be pretty self explanatory otherwise?
Thanks a lot for your help! I'll stick with one cab clean at all times and the effects going into the 2nd cab....I'll have a go on our next rehearsal and see how it works out.
-
As long as you have something which will split your signal in two, and access to two amps, you can try it. So borrow a friend's rig, or use a decent combo you have lying around to test it out? You don't need a dedicated splitter to try it either, as long as you have something lying around with two outputs. I used a DL4 delay pedal to split my signal when testing it, as it has two outputs
A Boss LS-2, maybe? So in what order should I set it up? I mean, bass, effects , amps...
-
Just make sure the cab for your clean lows can keep up with the distorted cab. The distortion cab won't need to be as big, or as loud as the other one to get as loud, especially if you are using a crossover or low/high pass filter somewhere along the line. Also, think about the space. Are you going to run two amps? If you're using an Ampeg SVT, I'd assume you'd want something similar for the other head. It is much simpler with a stereo power amp and two preamps in a rack in my experience. YMMV. I am currently using: Bass, going into my pedalboard where the signal is split after a few effects (tuner, volume pedal, octave pedal, whammy pedal) and then everything below around 375Hz is cut off from my 'lows channel', fed into an Aguilar Tonehammer and then into my poweramp. The other side runs full range (though I knock most of the bass out of it), through all my drive pedals and other effects before going into an Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp and the same poweramp. Each channel has its own volume control, and feeds a separate Schroeder 1212L. I think the best thing you can do is try it and see, but it isn't necessarily a cheap thing to do, especially if you want quite specialised stuff to do it with. It does sound good, but I feel like I want a different cab for the low end part of it. I may also be selling it all up for one filthy valve head at some point in the future, so time will tell if I REALLY like it that much
I'm sure it sounds awesome done that way but to be honest, I don't want to spend a fortune right now. Adding a bass combo can do the trick?

I can't make it in the end, last minute call from work, s**t! Have a great day you all, make the most of it!
I think buying a blender and experimenting would be a cheaper option to see if you like it. it'll show you some possibilities. And if you do decide moving onto having two amps, then you'll be making an informed choice then
I'm already using a blender, I've used it for a long time, but I'm not completely sure I like the end result so I'm consodering the two amp set up. I know many people run two amps with good results and I was hoping someone could give me some advice.
How did this turn into a Timmy C thread? XD
Exactly! I'm not trying to emulate his or anyone else's rig! I'm trying to find my own sound and I'm considering the possibility of running two amps so I just want some advice...I've never had a two amp set up before and I'm a bit lost here. So, for people that runs , or has run two amps: What's the best way to do it? What amp would you suggest to pair with my current gear? Is there a big difference between having a second effected amp and using a blender pedal?
