  1. I've used banjo armrests for instruments with little or no contour on the top. A chrome one looks pretty cool on a Dano.
  2. This is my most recent blue bass. These old Cort Curbow basses are pretty cool, I got the chance to work for Greg Curbow during the time that these instruments were designed, so I am biased. I bought a blue 4 string in exc. condition, but I'm a pretty big guy and it looked like I was wearing a belt buckle. The 5 string is a bit bigger, but still not a large instrument. It's lightweight and very comfortable to play. There is a 6 string version, but I don't believe that many were produced. I am on the lookout for one. I found this one on Reverb, it is pretty beat up, there was a slight crack on the peghead (at the E tuner) and the preamp didn't operate properly. I made a lowball offer and the seller accepted it. When the bass arrived, the box looked pretty and while taking it out of the box, I was impressed by how well the seller packed the bass. There was no case or bag. As I pulled the bass out of the last layer of packing, I noticed a few blue paint chips on the floor, after inspecting the body. I wasn't difficult to find the damage, the rim/top of the body where the controls are located, was badly damaged to the point of separating the the top from the rim, there were also cracks on the rim and the top in the control area. The only thing i could imagine causing this is dropping the box off a two story building and it landing perfectly on it's side, but who knows. I contacted the seller and fortunately he had purchased insurance on the bass before shipping, after sending him a bunch of detal pics, it ook a couple of weeks but Reverb offered me a partial refund that cut the price I paid to less than half of the original cost. I believe that I originally paid $240, shipped. I was more than happy with what took place. I took the pickup/preamp out, there was nothing wrong with the pickup, but I had an EMG 35P that I really like, it's a narrow split p design but it woiked with this bass. I added on a volume and tone. Eventually I will glue up the body, but as is the bass sounds great. The neck is in excellent condition, the action is low. I have owned a Blue Flower Presicion bass since 2006(?), it's totally stock, strung with old flats that I had taken off a vintage Fender bass. This is not my bass, mine is currently packed away with some other instruments that I'm saving for my kids.
  3. I have owned two of these over the years, I've also owned a single neck 4 string as well. I bought the first double neck way back in the mid 80's, it was an OEM model offered by a guitar deaker who had purchased a quantity of these from the Hondo after they had been discontinued. I modded it by adding a Dimarzio Model One mudbucker just below the neck on the 4 string. I eventually traded it away. I found the 4 string used, it was a great bass, ironically, it felt and sounded like an old P bass, the Hondos are different from the Danelectro Longhorn in that the bodies are solid and the they are long scale (34"). Someone ended up offering me a bunch of money for it, so it went away. I found the second doubleneck on reverb as a project bass, most of the parts were there, but it was in pretty rough shape. I build basses for a living, so I added it my pile of projects that I hope to get done. Recently I had the chance to work on it and everything went together nicely, it has two output jacks, which I believe was wired like Rickenbacker's Ric-O-Sound (the control harness was missing). I need to located the output jack that Rickenbacker uses for this (I think). It is heavy and huge, but the 4 string sound like a Precision and the 8 string sounds thunderous. I haven't gigged with it yet, but hope to soon. Here's a pic of my employee Tyler, holding it. It's bigger then he is. LOl.
