Simple. What do you prefer? Active or Passive Instrument? And if you can verbalize it. Why? I get people use both. I have both. If you switch up during sessions. How do you handle the EQ changes? I'm considering several options for drastic tonal changes throughout a session. Sorry.... THat darn brain tumor acting up. Discuss?

Weight is not a problem. Feels about the same as my others and lighter than at least my 2013 American Standard P. It's a new world for me. In more ways than one.

Arrived today. In the G&L box. Pictures will NOT do this thing justice. The neck feels awesome. Balance seems perfect. Just a quick feel is all I get. Goes to wizard Monday for setup and strings. Very happy.

At last count. I have 9 Bass's. All have the same strings. Their a Mix of Precisions, Jazz, a couple of PJs (one was born a Precision). As well as A G&L L2500 (arriving tomorrow). Which will go straight to a wizard I know to be setup. It will receive the same strings as all my other instruments. Been playing these strings since the 80s. Tried others. I even have sets of others on hand. Should that pesky brain tumor have any ideas. Moral of the story... Play wat ya like. Wear a tinfoil hat.

The Sire's I have tried were disappointment's. Chubby necks. Neck dive. I obviously haven't tried every model. Maybe just 3. They don't hang on a lot of walls here. And I enjoy 2 very high end dealers within reasonable distance. When you have Mike Lulls, Alembics, G&L, MTD, EBMM, Dingwalls and of course Fender and Gibsons everywhere.... Well... Sire's can't compete.

IEMs. Stage volume is not your friend.

Very subjective. If I "had" to choose one. Squire. Better neck.

Who uses amps anymore?

Now try a 5 string. Nice bass. -
Precisions are the perfect bass. Great find. Personally I own 3 of em.

Sansamp. Quad Cortex if ya wanna do it right.

It is out now. Videos look great. Received mine yesterday. Haven't boarded it yet. Gonna replace the POG II that's already there. Moving it to another board. Got from Sweetwater. Their already out of em. And they just got stock Saturday. Gonna be a fun week. Nix that. Sweetwater has em now.

Even though I only play 5 string anymore, I have 3 Precisions. The other 4 are Jazz. Love em all.

Anything non-Fender.

The QC diamond compressor works fine. I fell in love with the Keely Pro a while back. So I use it.

I tried to love Ampeg. I really did. Same with Hartke. I owned SVT to PF. Cabs and all. Just won't work "for me". GK was what did it for me back in the day. Now GK has totally screwed itself with their new line. Amped hasn't evolved significantly in a long time. For me the Mesa Subway line saved the day. And my Epifani UL 901 is even better. Punch and clarity. But even these are over shadowed by the QuadCortex.

Welcome to the Light side. QC is essential to bass when used in an IEM/Ampless environment. Of course, when used in a studio there is other worldly implications. Search in the cloud for your favorite stuff. Check out the online list of devices available. I have (and use) the Mesa CA400. I use a Noble preamp capture. Parametric EQ and HPF, LPF filter. And the Darkglass 212 neo cabs sims. I need to do some captures. Once my studio is built in a couple of months I'm gonna get them done. For now, experimentation is what you should be doing.

I know Jeff Berlin loves em. I couldn't get past all the yellow. I use Mesa.

Ok. Looking to consolidate power on the big board. Peterson strobo stomp into Keely Cpmpressor Pro. Into Eventide Chorusaurus. Into EBS Envelope filter. Into EH POG2. Into QuadCortex. The QC is 12v 3a. Most everything else is 9v. Not sure about the POG. I have the guys at Sweetwiter piecing something together. Should have a idea tomorrow. What are you guys using for the hungrier boards out there. It's all on a Pedal Train board. Sweetwiter is probably gonna work up a Cioks deal. If I can hide it under the board. Get a single power drop. Cool. What else is out there? Anything better than Cioks?

All great suggestions. You're already well equipped. The most noteworthy suggestion is try till you get tired of it. The world has a lot to offer for bass players these days. My studio is a testament. My 0.02 worth. Mesa Subway. I love the D-800+. If you really want tone that puts a smile on your face. Epifani UL901. If ya wanna do it right. QuadCortex.

This is sound thinking.

I don't get it either. I was slow to make the move at first because every 5 I played had a floppy B string. But the Fender surprised me. Got one and never looked back. Now I "personally" consider 4 string useless. Without that B string it ain't a real bass. With that being said. I remind people that is how I feel. And doesn't reflect or intend to influence how others view the instrument. I just feel 4 string instruments are no more than toys. But there are people out there that can really make their toys talk.
