  1. Sold Graeme a strap. Perfect transaction, wouldn't hesitate to deal again. Thanks
  2. Neotech - Mega Bass Strap - Midsize 40" - 50" - SOLD Great Condition - Never gigged. Has had straplocks fitted previously - see pics. These are my go to straps for any bass 4.4Kg or less, more comfortable and in my opinion an upgrade to the popular comfort straps. Fewer basses means I need less straps so moving this one on.
  3. Price Drop £40 Pinegrove - BS66 Heavyweight Bass Guitar Strap - Black Great condition never gigged, home use only. Mine from new, has had straplocks fitted so circles visible. Great strap, construction and quality of materials as good as anything I've tried. Fewer basses means I don't need so many straps. Length : Short 36-52" / 97-132cm 4" at its widest.
  4. For Sale - Crafter acoustic guitar. £85 for a simple deal This has been on my wall for 20 years or more. I asked the chap in the shop to play multiple guitars when I purchased it and this stood out as the best of the bunch. The binding has yellowed with age (smoke free home) but otherwise in very good condition. I'm no guitarist and it's time to accept I'm not going to be. Priced to sell and for a meet up to hand over somewhere like Chieveley services.
  5. Bass bros is by appointment so my advice is book yourself a timeslot there first. Let Will know what you're after and he'll sort you out, you'll likely have the place to yourself. (He's never laughed at my playing so you'll be fine!). https://bassbros.co.uk/category/bass-guitars/ Then you can go to Bass direct as they are more an open door shop, being on an industrial estate they are still not a passing foot traffic sort of place though. 75% of the time I've been on headphones in the corner at Bass Direct. It is worth looking through there website but I would recommend giving them a call to double check stock if there is something you have your heart set on. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Home.html Bass Direct has more new basses and all the bits and pieces you could ever want. Bass bros is mostly second hand basses, amps and cabs. Personally I find the Bass bros experience more relaxed but I have also had good chats/experience with Marcus and Ash at Bass direct.
  6. Dave bought a P bass from me, perfect straightforward deal. Excellent comms, wouldn't hesitate to deal again. Many Thanks.
  7. I use a dovecage into a Vanderkley Spartan 2. I believe the op-amps are the same between the Jule and Vanderkley (if I've remembered that right). In any case it sounds glorious to me!
  8. Hmmm thinking about it might be Dunlops... Grey matter takes some stirring to remember stuff these days.....
  9. Another string ID request if the collective would be so kind. 5 string set no silks. Ball end colours: B - Black E - Gold A - Silver D - Black G - Gold Dead as a doornail but still sound great and really suit the bass, wondering what they sound like new.
  10. This has generated more interest than I can keep up with. Will try and get back to everyone.
  11. Comfort straps Used with straplocks (now removed) which seems to disagree with the surface shiny layer of leather. Left these looking tatty at the ends particularly inside, but they still function fine. Foam in good shape and really not had that much use. Just sat in the cupboard for a couple of years. 1 Bass Long 1 Bass Extra Long Will post both together (Cheaply) in UK but just when I'm next passing a post office.
  12. Thanks, I had started looking at the Ibanez EHB but some feedback on Thomann mentions quality control issues. Good to hear people are happy with theirs.
  13. Thanks Tony I have struggled in that classical seated position, feeling a bit of twist in my back. I shall certainly check that out, as always much appreciated.
  14. Aye, I'll no doubt be darkening their door again. I did play a really good Maruszczyk 6'er at Bass Bros, 6's not my thing but it played so easily I was really surprised. Certainly another maker on the list though thanks. Does feel like an element of pot luck on a custom build (I guess I tend to scrutinise a commission in a different way to something I've bought off the peg) then there's taking the larger hit when moving a new instrument on....
  15. Hey Tony, yep the Leduc gets as close as any. It sets the bar very high in every regard, if it was 4Kg or less I'd be sorted. To be fair to my ACG Salace that is a more comfortable bass to play seated.
  16. Good call. I did spend some time with an MTD Marilyn, lovely bass. 19mm spacing (although I think it was adjustable) in combination with the neck profile, my fretting hand used to give me a bit of discomfort. It also had the deeper body to adapt to.
  17. I keep returning to the thought, could I get down to one bass. Looking for some input on a bass that meets the spec's I think might get me there (or at least closer). I get the 'go to a luthier angle they'll build anything you want', but in this scenario I want to play before I pay. The Spec: 5 string 24 fret 18mm spacing at the bridge 45 to 47mm at the nut Excellent access (including low notes up the dusty end) Contours for belly and forearm Top horn to 12th fret (or less). 34" or 35" 4.2 Kg or less Resonant. I'm not looking for a 'versatile' bass, I dial my instruments to how they sound best to me and that's where they'll mostly stay. Once comfort/ergonomics are sorted my only concern is do I get off on the sound and feel (playing 99% fingerstyle, no effects). Woods and PUP configs in my experience are so variable it makes sense to just try the bass rather than second guess how it's going to sound. Budget wise certainly sub 5 figures, balance is between cost and how far it gets to satisfying my bass needs. Looking forward to your suggestions. Cheers
