  1. Finished both of mine!! Now time to start on the other 2…….👍🏻
  2. I’ve started to play in a acoustic punk covers band so I built myself an acoustic bass and anyone who has seen any of my personal bass builds know I have a bit of an addiction to the corvette shape so I thought why not blend the two here’s what I come up with so far……… Then I thought I’ll make a back up bass so I decided to make it my second favourite bass shape a Thunderbird, here’s just a quick mock-up….…. Then the two guitarist decided they wanted an acoustic each so I’ve cut the tops for them so far they wanted a kind of ES335/Starcaster type shape…….
  3. Thanks for the advice I think I’ll just make the body thicker and just use a spare Fishman preamp I’ve already got 👍🏻
  4. Hi I’m thinking of making a slimline corvette inspired acoustic bass I’m going to make it about 40mm thick so I can’t fit a preamp to it, I know it won’t be very loud acoustically but I’ll only ever play it through a PA I’m thinking of fitting a ceramic transducer pickup under the saddle (Artec or similar) can I wire it up passive or do they need to be active? Also I know with disc piezo pickups if you solder a 0.1pF cap on the jack socket it takes some of the shrill tones away is that the same for a Ceramic one aswell? Any advice gratefully received 👍🏻
  5. Here’s my latest build…….👍🏻
  6. As most of you know I’m partial to a Corvette bass so I’ve decided to try and make a solid body (corvette inspired) acoustic bass don’t quite know how it’s going to come out but I’m going to try it anyway……..👍🏻🤘🏻
  7. No I bought the necks 👍🏻
  8. You know me too well Andy of course there’s was a next one I made a short scale Acoustasonic style Bass that I use for my Acoustic Punk tribute band In the pipeline is a 30inch 2 string Cigar box Bass
  9. More random guitar builds….👍🏻🤘🏻
  10. Some more random bass builds…….👍🏻🤘🏻
  11. This bass is all finished now……👍🏻🤘🏻
  12. Hi eveyone I've started playing in a Acoustic punk tribute band and I play my acoustic bass through a di box into the Pa as when I’ve tried playing through an amp it just feedbacks really badly but I haven’t got a monitor so I struggle to hear myself sometimes is there a way that I can add a headphone Jack to the bass and have kind of in ear monitors that way instead of spending hundreds of pounds getting transmitters and receivers? I thought maybe a little op amp circuit a bit like a Vox headphone amp might work but would that ettect the output to the di box? Thanks 👍🏻
  13. Hi I got these tuners in a job lot and I have no clue what brand they are? Any ideas?
  14. When I put it up for sale I’m going to advertise it with or without the pickguard 👍🏻
  15. Yeah I’ve still got to reshape the headstock 👍🏻 This was before I routed it……
  16. Hi been a while since I’ve posted on here but here’s my latest build…….. The body is a scaffold board back and a book matched Sheesham (Indian Rosewood) top reclaimed from an old dining table…….👍🏻
  17. When I hold the guitar up to my ear the buzz is definitely coming from the body end and not the nut end I did a basic set up when I changed the strings the neck is virtually flat with not a lot of relief As you’ll see from the pictures the action is very high it’s approx 5mm, the strings are breaking from the nut nicely so I think it must be the bridge?? The
  18. Hi all I need some advice please I’ve just pickup an acoustic bass and I’ve got buzzing on the open A and slight buzzing in the open D it sounds like it’s coming from the bridge? Am I right in thinking that it could be an issue with the string angle being too shallow as it comes over the saddle? The problem is the action is really high so I can’t raise the saddle up any higher! I want to lower the action as well but am struggling to think of any other way to do it other than change the whole neck angle? Any advice would be great!! Thanks
  19. Sorry for not posting pics sooner but here’s the wiring and the diagram I used Bizarrely I’m getting output but when I test the pickup with a multimeter I’m not getting any resistance? 🤔
  20. That was my initial thought but it’s not touching anywhere I’ll put some pictures on when I get home later 👍🏻
  21. Hi all I’m having an issue with my 51 style p bass wiring the volume of the pickup was really low so I changed the pots which sorted out that problem but the tone pot also does the volume I’ve checked the wiring and it’s all correct, I changed the cap just in case and that made no difference either I think I recall hearing somewhere that it could be an issue with the coil wires on the pickup? Does that sound like it could be the cause? or have I got my wires crossed (sorry bad pun!!!) Any advice would be great thanks 👍🏻
  22. Thanks everyone for the replies I understand there’s no one size fits all answer I’m really just looking to get something to get me started if you know what I mean then if things carry on then upgrade to something better I think I’ll look for around the 500w size but my budget is around £200 I’ve seen a few Trace Elliot’s for around that price………👍🏻
  23. I’m possibly going to start gigging soon and was wondering what size amp/Brands everyone would recommend for an average size pub gigs? Funds are quite tight so budget options would be great 👍🏻 I’ve seen a Ashdown Electric Blue 180 that is local and reasonably priced? (£100)
