Hi I hope this doesn’t make me sound too stupid but can I wire up any pickups to a 2 band eq preamp harness or do they need to be specifically active pickups The reason I’m asking is I prefer playing with flats I really don’t like rounds and just wanted to be able to boost the treble a bit to make them sound a bit brighter on a few songs………..👍🏻

Here’s my latest Fenderbird build….,,👍🏻

I’ve done it without a table once! That’s was a scary 5mins!! 🫣 It’s not too bad on a table when you do multiple shallow passes
-
Isn’t that another name for disco balls!!
-
Cheers mate! I found it wasn’t too bad but I use a modern C shaped router bit in my router table to shape the neck, it took about an 1 1/2 hours to radius the fretboard tho but I suppose that’s no difference to Ebony! 👍🏻

Jazz bass wiring (single/series/single)
Jimothey replied to Jimothey's topic in Repairs and Technical
Cheers for that I thought I’d checked on talkbass I must have missed it? So by the looks of it this should work……. -
I’ve been trying to find a wiring diagram for a Jazz bass I’m building but can’t seem to find one….. What I’m trying to do is 1 volume 1 tone with 3 way selector switch but wire it so it’s bridge/both in series/neck? Could anyone point me in the right direction please TIA ……..👍🏻

Haven’t been on here in a while as I’ve been busy trying to build up my business which is going quite well and getting good feedback from my builds Heres my latest build is it a P or Jazz bass I don’t really know to be honest?? The body is made from old floor joists and the neck is a scratch built Oak with Oak fretboard from an old chest of drawers I’m using a Hipshot A style bridge and some modern style jazz pickups……👍🏻

Here’s my latest precision build…….👍🏻

I just got an Irig 2 and I tried to set it up with my IPhone but when I turned the monitor on but it seemed to pick up everything via the mic on the phone??? I tried changing the settings on AmpliTube but I can’t seem to change the input from built in mic? Any ideas on how to sort it out? Thanks in advance…..👍🏻

Fret buzz on A and D strings 3rd fret only
Jimothey replied to Jimothey's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the replies…..👍🏻 I rechecked with my more expensive fret rocker (not my cheap wish one I used originally!!) and the 3rd fret is lower than the 2nd and 4th so looks like a fret level job is needed -
Hi I’m trying to set up my latest build and I’ve got a fret buzz on the A and D strings only on the 3rd fret I’ve tweeted the truss rod as the neck had a bit too much of a back bow and I’ve raised the action on the two strings but it’s still buzzing!! I’ve checked with my rocker and the fret doesn’t look to be high/low? Do you think it’s a nut issue? If so what would be the best way to test it? Thanks in advance…….👍🏻

As per usual with me this bass has undergone another change this is what I’ve ended up with and it had now become one of my favourites!!…….👍🏻 I’m going to build another one with reverse p bass pickups for a change…..👍🏻

Here’s the latest guitar off the bench I decided against the fake branding in the end And here’s one that is taking shape…..👍🏻

Pair of soap bar pickups -not very good ones
Jimothey replied to Random Guitarist's topic in Recycling
I might be interested in them could you post a pic of them pls…..👍🏻 -
@known as Signal path I hope this isn’t too cheeky but if you decide to get rid of the original body give me a shout as I’d be interested in having it?……👍🏻
-
I think the body looks great as is but I think I’m a bit biased as this is one of my favourite basses I’ve built …….👍🏻
-
Almost finished this build I’ve wired it like a Gilmour Nashville Tele so it gives you some different tones to a standard Strat! Just got the re-fret the neck as I found 2 frets that had popped and some of the others were quite worn……..👍🏻
-
The SG’51 (I ended up using the original body and I’m gonna use the second body on another build!) and the Warbird are now finished……. I’m keeping the Warbird but the SG’51 is going up for sale…….👍🏻
-
Like a dumb a**e I routed the pickup cavity in the wrong place so I had to remake the body so here’s the new “Krysa ‘51” just waiting for the pickup to turn up now!! I’m not sure about the control plate on an angle or whether to have it straight?…….👍🏻
