  1. I'm trying to get this build back on track, I'm looking at fretboards at the mo and I've got my eye on a choice of 2 a bubinga one and a wenge one?? I'm thinking possibly the Wenge one might look better as it's darker but I really like the Bubinga one aswell They are pre slotted and radiused which will make my life easier but the only problem is they are only 70mm wide and I need them to be 75mm at the heel so I'm probably going to bind them I was thinking of doing the oak veneer line then sapele to bring it out wide enough which will be easy enough?!? But the other problem I've got is I made a mistake with the width of the neck at the nut I wanted it to be 45mm but because of removing the little dink caused by the router rocking a little bit it's only 42mm so I'm trying to work out a way that I can make it up to 45mm and so the neck hasn't got a step under the fretboard?? Has anyone got any ideas??
  2. Pickup cavities, control cavity, arm and belly carve done!! 1st coat of Danish oil on it! Now just waiting for neck screws, bridge, knobs and tuners......... I think it's starting to look really nice now if I do say so myself!! 😁
  3. The pickups turned up today so I thought a quick mockup was in order!, im still waiting for the bridge and tuners so I'm going to rout the pickup cavities and finish the control cavity tomorrow 😀
  4. I only managed to get the control cavity cover done today....... 😀
  5. I think it looks much better with the new headstock shape......... 😀 Next job is the control cavity, fingers crossed I don't balls it up again!?! 😳
  6. I decided to reshape the headstock as it didn't look right with the fender style so I did the Ibby style I've done on a couple of my other builds then veneered it with oak to match the centre section of the body....... 😀
  7. Got the neck pocket sanded down and routed out, I don't think it looks too bad??............
  8. I did think of going down that route but my 5 string body is 38mm and it needs the electrics done so I might aswell just swap them round 😀
  9. After checking the measurements of the blend and push/pull pots they definitely won't fit so this build will now be passive and my 'Tropia' 5 string bass build will get fitted with the preamp instead.......... 😀
  10. I've still got some more contouring to do but it looks like this......... Also slight change at the neck pocket balls up or design feature I'll let you decide???..........🙄
  11. I'm back at work now so I have started shaping the body just got the belly and arm carve to do I'm putting soap bar pickups in this build they should be with me next week at the latest and Ive ordered the preamp nothing special but I'm a bit concerned as this body is only 30mm thick that the push/pull pot might not fit???😳
  12. Not in the same league as most of the other basses on here but I like it........ My 'orca' bitsa tele bass 😀
  13. Little update I decided to go back to the original black pickguard which I think looks better....... 😀
  14. I have 8 but 4 aren't finished yet!! Finished: Bitsa Jazz, Bitsa 4 string P, Quincy Monaco, Bitsa Telebass Unfinished: Bitsa 5 string P, Ibby 5 string (made new body), 5 string scratch build and 4 string custom But I've got plans to build about another 4............ 😀
  15. I agree that fretboard is stunning it almost seems a shame to cover it!! 😀
  16. Please accept my sincere apologies and hope this goes some way for my penance
  17. I started contouring the body yesterday and rounding off the edges but forgot to take any pics! But I'm off for a week now so I'll crack on when I get back to work 😀
  18. No my inspiration was from a Fortress I had never heard of Tom Clements basses? I just googled it and they are really nice aren't they!!.............
  19. Body is all cut now! Just going to start sanding and rounding off the body.........

  21. I used, sorry I meant borrowed some 'spare' shower door runner wheels I've decided to do the original body shape again 😀
  22. I made myself a router skid to help flatten the body blank its no way as near fancy as @Andyjr1515's but it does the job...... (just!!) 😀
  23. Yeah we can sort something out nearer the time mate
