@owen I'm up for a road trip
-
Yeah I plugged it in on my little practice amp I keep at work and it has a really nice warm tone and a nice thuddy tone when you roll the tone up and down on passive and when on active you can really turn the bass up so much so that my little amp started farting!! Maybe it's just my amp but there's not a massive difference between the tone of the neck and bridge pickups, the neck is a bit more trebly than the bridge but all in all I think it sounds good!! 😁 Yeah that neon orange P does look nice and for £99 you can't really go wrong!!

Sorry my mistake I meant to put 19music.co.uk

Just took delivery of this bass £149 free p&p from 19MUSIC.CO.UK I've always wanted a Warwick Corvette but can't afford one so when I saw this I just had to buy it and I'm glad I did!! Here's the specs: Build quality: the build quality is great lovely natural Ash body, feels like your playing a much more expensive bass Finish: The Satin finish is flawless and the finish on the neck feels really nice Playability: Straight out of the box the setup was very good, the action is nice and low. The fret ends are really smooth and only a slight buzz from the low E which a small adjustment to the saddle sorted it right out Sound: I haven't had chance to play it through an amp yet as the kids were in bed so i'll have to edit this review when I play it properly Conclusion: I absolutely love this bass the build quality, finish etc is exceptional for the price. It has instantly become my go to bass!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a budget bass 😀

Updated photo just took delivery of a great little bass the Quincy Monaco (2nd from the left) I've got another couple of builds in the pipeline so expect another update soon

Your work looks great!! but I wouldn't want to ruin a good fire by putting a Ric on it!! 😁

😁

Here's how the back detail will look: @Andyjr1515 your definatly right that demarcation line makes a hell of a difference 😀
-
They are stunning basses but I'm more of a warwick fan problem is I can't afford one so I have to try and make my own (ish) ....... 😀
-
I think I'm going to make the other body anyway as it is a project I've thought about doing for a while and see which I prefer once it's done?? At the moment when I look at the body all I can see is the repair!! 😳
-
Whilst I'm waiting for the body blank to glue up I thought I'd have a look at finishes Left is tinted Danish oil and right is normal Danish oil I think I prefer the tinted one as it brings out the figuring of the grain better??........
-
No it will probably be quite flat on the back apart from the belly carve, it's more the general shape I'm going for......
-
This is what I'm thinking Oak and Sapele Top Back Either side of the oak on the top and bottom I'm going to try and do Ebony veneer lines. But I can't decide whether to do an Infinity or Streamer shape?? I'm swaying more towards the Infinity..........
-
I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and make a new body but more in the style of an Ifinity or Streamer as this body shape was very similar to my 5 string I've just done, I'm still going to use contrasting woods probably sapele and pine again or maybe sapele with Oak lines haven't quite decided yet?? Thanks for all the ideas everyone but I think whatever I do to it it's going to look pony!!...................
-
I've tried to plug it and made up some filler using sapele dust and glue but you can still see the disc a bit its certainly not an invisible repair??
-
I hope this doesn't sound stupid but if your going to go for fishtail style tuners what's stopping you leaving the original bushes in and use them as a reducer and then fitting the new ones thru them?? That's working on the assumption that the original bushes are 16mm internal size and the new tuners are 16mm nut size you might need to ease the hole a little bit with a 16-17mm metal drill bit?? But It might work?? I've got some of each of the tuners so I'll give it a try and let you know if it works...........
-
I can't belive I didn't think of that!! 🙄 I'll give that a go tomorrow cheers!! 😁
-
I was thinking that would be the only way to get over it but I didn't really wanted to go down that route as unless I get pine and sapele veneers it's going to look odd on the sides??.........
-
Yeah I've just pink torpedoed the body to the highest level!! Hogging out the cavity needed to leave 5mm and had a momentary lapse of concentration and went a tad too deep!! 😱😠🤬😠🤬😠🤬😠 I can't think of a way to save it? I don't want a pickguard so I might have to remake the body completely!! 😭😭
-
I ordered a new bass (£149 free p&p) last night that should be arriving on Thursday here's a pic and the spec I'll review it properly when it's arrived:
-
@Fionn If you regret buying it or don't want to pay to get it repaired I'd be interested in buying it off you for a reasonable price......... 😀
-
It was only the top that got painted but I prefer it darker hence why I am using tinted Danish oil........ 😀
-
I've managed to get some Danish oil on now, when I sanded the top it helped with the wobbly bridge so that now sits flush with the body so no need to recess it now......... The middle section on the back must be more open grained as the whole back was sanded to 320 grit but it's still a lot darker than the wings but I kinda like the difference.......... I also need to shape the back of the neck where it joints just to give it of a more attractive transition............ 😀
