  1. Your a braver man than me!! At the planning stage I would have decided to have a gin instead!! 😁
  2. I've had a bit of a reaction with the paint on the body so I'm sorting it out but here's the neck anyway I'm still going to give a few more coats so it will go a bit darker πŸ˜€
  3. I can't quite make out from the pic but are the blocks Zebrano or Wenge? Either way looks great better than pearloid or MOP IMHO! πŸ˜€
  4. The AA yellow spray paint came out very orangey so I've bought some Sun Yellow instead which looks a lot better and I've used tinted Danish oil on the neck as I thought it would be a nice contrast with the yellow, I'm also doing a matching headstock I'll post pics tomorrow πŸ˜€
  5. I'm looking for a Jazz neck to put on my P bass or my Tangocaster project What size heel has it got? And how much would you want for it?
  6. I had to make one for my daughter to take to school! now she wants the real thing!!
  7. After reading your earlier post I dug out my whetstone grinder (but I had lost my clamp bar when I moved so I had to make a new one) my version has got the leather linisher on it to polish the blade up afterwards the only difference I do to you is use and 1000grit oilstone Very informative and a great guide for people who don't have that much experience in sharpening!! πŸ˜€ Have you ever tried the Scary Sharp system as one of my mate swears by it and it does live up to the name!!
  8. I'm sure there will be someone who can help, look on the repair and technical section and there's a list of BCers prepared the help fix a bass, find someone local to you and PM them πŸ˜€
  9. That looks great!! I'm thinking if using that colour Danish oil on a warwick corvette style kit build that I'm hopefully gonna do but the body is Alder so I wonder how different the colour will come out? Was 0.5l enough for all the coats you did? πŸ˜€
  10. Looks like a nice kit! What colour you thinking of? πŸ˜€
  11. So far I've sorted the electrics, painted the pickguard and stripped the body I've got some AA Van yellow spray paint so I'll start spraying next week πŸ˜ƒ
  12. After @Norris said the pickguard looks a bit pointy for the shape of the bass it got me thinking so I made a paper template that I rounded the corners off to see how would look and I think it looks better (also Im liking it in white aswell) so good shout Norris!
  13. I thought I was right but I just wanted to check thanks everyone Just out of interest how much do you charge for a standard P bass solderless wiring loom?
  14. On all the diagrams I've looked at the white is the hot because it always goes to one of the terminals on the pot and the red goes to ground on the base of it? I've looked again at the pickups and I thought the unsleeved cable wraps round the red the whole length to the pickup but it only is wrapped round when it comes out of the sleeving of both cables it looks like it's just in the middle of the two?
  15. Well they say the camera adds 10lbs!! 😁
  16. I prefer that to the standard TB headstock! Looks great!!
  17. Everything!! 😁 No in all seriousness, it will be my first fretboard so like before I shaped the neck I'm just a bit nervous that everything gonna go a bit 'Pete' and I'm gonna end up with an expensive bit of firewood but I'm sure everything will be fine🀞
  18. Yeah I have I'll check it later That makes more sense because if you don't need to connect it then what's the point if it being there in the first place I'll hopefully get it wired up over the weekend Thanks everyone for your help πŸ‘
  19. So where do you reckon the red wire goes if the unshielded wire goes to ground?
  20. The pickups are the originals that come with the bass according to the spec details online they say they are Powersound (never heard of them!?!) I thought that maybe the unsleeved wire is for shielding purposes but I'm unsure whether to solder it with the red or not??
  21. That's how it looks, but the unsleeved wire is wrapped round the red
  22. I didn't think of that, I'll probably round off the corners a bit? πŸ‘
  23. Hi I had a quick search on here for the answer but couldn't find out what I need to know?? I need a bit if advice I'm going to be wiring up my 5 string Jazz-ish bass I'm using this wiring diagram as a reference If I wire up exactly the same as this I have to move a couple of wires from one terminal to another but my pickup wires branch in to 2 a white sleeved and a red sleeved with an unsleeved wire wrapped around it the red?? Am I right in think that the white is the hot and the red is the ground? So do I solder both the red and the unsleeved to the top of the pot as a ground or do they need to be wired up separately?? Thanks for any advice in advanceπŸ˜ƒ
  24. You make it look so effortless!! Don't suppose you fancy giving me a hand when I buy my fretboard? 😁
  25. The colour of the veneer in the photo is a lot darker than it is in the flesh (crappy fluorescent tube lighting in the workshop) I'll take some new pics in my kitchen which has cool white bulbs But I get what you mean in the pic it does look like it clashes, I could always scrape the paint off the edge so it's white then it might contrast better? πŸ˜€
