  1. I would have preferred it with a maple fretboard but I’m sure the rosewood will look Ok?
  2. The paint is dry but I’m going to wait till tomorrow to put it together to see how it looks.........
  3. Is it all basses or just Fender Style basses?.........
  4. I’ll put it all together tomorrow and see if I’m going to keep the white headstock
  5. You could have posted about 5 minutes earlier I’ve just painted the headstock white!! I wasn’t keen on the Cream/Gold combo so I think I’ll keep it white for the time being but you never know I might change my mind again
  6. I looked back through the posts on this thread and even though I was against it at first the White with Gold pickguard really has started growing on me so I thought id give it a go Not sure about the Wooten-esque style headstock now though??........
  7. That’s looking really nice I much prefer the White instead of the Black!! That cool naming after your daughter this time, Thats the reason why all mine say ‘Brash’ on the headstock because my little boy is called Bradley and my daughter is called Ashden (But I make my own logos with a laser printer and sellotape)
  8. That’s a shame about the hole and photoflame stopping under the scratchplate as I was interested in doing a Sting style bass but I’ll have to go down a different route Can’t wait to see yours finished! Is the logo going to be another Bruno bass?........
  9. I’m exactly the same!! Each time I do a new one I think we’ll the last one looked ok how can I make it better?........ So is there going to be a next time??
  10. Looks like it’s coming on nicely and for a first build it’s looking a really good job!! Much better than my first attempt
  11. I think I read somewhere (probably EBay) that the internal dimensions are approx 83mm (W) x 64mm (D) x 24mm (H) for a standard size bridge cover.......
  12. That’s an idea!! I think I’m gonna do the Walnut on this one and maybe do the Oak on a different build later on (I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a variation of a Marleaux Consat style) but after I’ve finished these 3 builds I’m gonna focus all my energy on getting better at playing so I can maybe try and join a band one day!?!......
  13. Hi and welcome Why not after you’ve rebated and glued the binding just use a trim flush cutter to remove the last 0.2mm Just an idea??
  14. I really like the Oak and I didn’t know whether it would look better than the Walnut with the rosewood fretboard? But then your both right aswell the Walnut is stunning!!!! Aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!
  15. I really like the shape as well but I can’t take any credit for it as it’s heavily influenced by the ACG recurve S type I had my heart on doing a walnut burr veneered top (this is the actual veneer I’m thinking of buying) But........then I saw these and it threw a spanner in the works now I can’t decide Oak burr Macassar Ebony or Black Limba
  16. I’m using just hardglaze again as I thought the my Jazz bass came out ok?, I’m just going to do the same as I did before, 3 coats then flatten it then do a final thinned down coat and wipe it on.........
  17. Sounds really nice, you can’t go wrong with a bit of Spalted Beech!!.....
  18. I thought that 38mm on my last build was thin but Jabba makes his around 35mm and Andy makes his even thinner than that around 25mm, so I reckon you should be ok and that should take some weight off the body aswell What woods you looking at? Incidentally my P bass body build is going to be around the 33mm mark give or take......
  19. Just a quick mock up....... I’ve decided it’s definitely going to be a walnut burr top and back with matching headstock and a pine core for contrast......
  20. Just put the first coat of gloss on...... I had to move the bridge on my last build so I thought I’d gloss it at the same time
  21. +1 I bought my Jazz bass kit off him aswell only thing to consider is you might have the same problems geek99 had with the pickup sizes so my advice would be don’t buy the pickups till you have measured the bridge rout as with my Jazz, Discreets and geeks both cavities are routed for 2 neck size pickups..... I looked in to buying some Paulownia and your right it was virtually the same price by the time you factor in p&p and as you say most of the work is already kinda done for you......
  22. There a bit different....... but I like them!!
  23. Here’s the revised shape I’m not entirely sure how the bolt on neck will work but I’m sure I’ll figure something out Just in case I doesn’t work out here’s another version
