  1. I completely agree with you, I always use car paints aswell I find them a lot more forgiving than Nitro
  2. Looking good!!!! I’m really liking the Orange
  3. Thanks I was really happy when I found that board in the shed as it was really clear of knots and the fact it’s got a slight difference in colour between the sap and heartwood was very appealing to me I’m not sure whether to leave it completely natural or stain it down slightly to a maybe a light honey colour??......
  4. I don’t see why it won’t be a nice playable bass that you can gig if you take the time to set it up properly
  5. I thought it would do but I just wanted to check, that’s a result tho I’ve got about 5 rolls of Alu tape left over from a ducting job I did a few months back ........
  6. I want to shield the pickup and control cavities and was wondering if self adhesive Alu tape would work as well as Copper tape????
  7. Now that my other build is well underway and waiting for some black hardware I thought I’d try and push this one on...... I’m going to fill the old pickup cavity and make the new template so I can rout out the two new MM pickup cavities then get the body finished while I’m waiting for the pickups to arrive.....
  8. My Jazz and my Ibby are the same both pickups are the same size
  9. I was gonna try and save a bit of money by putting the chrome back on, but I’m thinking your right it needs to go black.....
  10. Couldn’t get as much done as I hoped today..... Finished the neck pocket and started the belly carve but that’s about it!! I’m not sure whether to do the headstock black or sand it back to maple?? Im not back in work till Friday so I’ll get some more done then.......
  11. Looking great!!!! I see what you mean about it looking White but either way I like it, Definite improvement on the Sunburst......
  12. I’d like to say I planned it that way but.......
  13. Thanks I think it’s a much better shape than the original-ish body shape........
  14. Managed to get some more done today finished shaping the back and got the arm carve cut done (I don’t know if it needs to be a bit bigger) Also got most of the routing done just need to remove the bulk of the neck pocket Tomorrows jobs are the belly carve, sand down and fill little bits of the sides and hopefully the control cavity........
  15. I definitely think Orange as you see a lot of vintage white P Basses but I haven’t seen many Orange ones......
  16. My vote goes for bright Orange!!!! Proper Tango style!!! I buy most of my pickguards off Amazon or EBay for less than a £10er I don’t see the point in spending £30-40 on a proper fender one that looks exactly the same......
  17. Got the body all sanded and started shaping it Got the top done and started the back but got to go back to work so I’ll do some more tomorrow.....
  18. Managed to get a bit more done on my lunch break yesterday I made the alterations to the size for the neck pocket it’s not that dramatic but it makes a difference I’ll be sanding all lunchtime and hopefully start getting some shaping done I also started making my neck pocket and pickup routing template Hopefully post some more pics later on today.......
  19. Looking very nice!!! Liking the colour matched headstock nice detail!......
  20. I challenged you to pickguards at dawn sir!!!!
  21. Wrong soooo very wrong!!!
  22. That maybe is true or is it I’ve just got taste!!!
  23. My vote is Mint or Gold like in the previous pics The pics of tort made me throw up in my mouth a little bit......
  24. I’m still with Basswood
  25. I’m not 100% sure but I would say is it was more like Tulipwood or Basswood I definitely doesn’t look like Pine or Ash to me How heavy is it?
