  1. The ones I’ve been looking at can be coil tapped, If I understand correctly then it involves putting a switch in but I’m not entirely sure where the switch needs to be??
  2. I was thinking that this would be a good option as it covers standard p bass and stingray pickups placements Would be best to just wired them like a Jazz bass??
  3. Thanks for the advice I’m still undecided if I want just 1 or 2? I don’t know which would be better? The other configuration I was thinking was Or
  4. I’m doing a ‘72 style P bass kit build and have decided that I’m going to put a double Humbucker in instead of the split coils Can anyone advise me on how much difference the placement of the pickup will make to the sound/tone??? The positions I’m considering are, Or Or should it be somewhere in between?.....
  5. I think your right it needs to be about half way between where the normal pickups would be and where it is on the picture I haven’t got a clue how much of a difference it will make sound wise hopefully someone on here will be able to advise? I’ll do a new thread to see if I can find out?
  6. Yeah stingray style
  7. I think you’ve got a point 1 at the bridge is a good idea, I think 2 might be too much
  8. Here’s the different configurations I’m thinking about?......
  9. I’m toying with the idea of scrapping the split coil and putting in MM pickups in instead??......
  10. That’s a stroke of luck re the neck!! I thought you might have gone down the route of chambering the oak to lighten it but thats good news that it’s not overly heavy....
  11. Finally got time to sanding off the walnut stain of the neck 1 1/2 hours later........ It was quite hard work but I think it was worth it, You were all right it definitely looks better maple against the red/cream The neck will be a little bit darker after I lacquer it Now it’s time to sort out the pickup cavity.......
  12. Nice!!!
  13. @BreadBin sorry I meant do it properly not the bodge that they had tried to do it Ive always been a fan of the JBS but I would have to do it Duff style!!! I’ve been looking for a JBS project for a long while but they are always go for too high price a price for me
  14. So you weren’t tempted to make it into a Duff Signature? Nice and simple great job!!
  15. I just looked at this thread for this build awesome!!!!!

  18. What’s wrong with this headstock it’s simple, classy IMO it’s perfect I think it’s much better than this design
  19. I’ve just started using Inkscape aswell that’s what I used to design my scratch build except I can’t seem to get the photo crop then applying it to the body function to work properly But that’s looking really good
  20. Looking very nice 👍
  21. I think I share the same opinion as most on here Bass, Electric, Lute whatever we just enjoy watching your builds progress and evolve So I’m intrigued by this build that you want it lighter but your going to include some oak??
  22. If anyone is interested I’ve got some full size plans (PDF) Dimension IV Bass, Jazz Bass, And some guitar plans Jaguar, Strat, a few different Teles and some Gibson’s PM me if you want any of them and I’ll email them over to you
