Got distracted from what I am supposed to be doing into learning “Top of the pops” by the Rezillos instead. A cracking bit of New Wave melodic bass playing. Both the tab online and the couple of YouTube covers I found aren‘t correct, so I’m taking a bit of time and using Transcribe to get it accurate. I wonder if I should invest in GuitarPro and write it down properly? I’ve been thinking about that recently.

It’s funny, I have always used rotosound stainless, but I thought I’d try d’addario XL nickels on my p-bass since lots of other people use them. So far I really don’t like the top end sound, at least from new. They are zingy, but not in a pleasing way. I’ll stick with them until they dull down a bit and see if they improve.

The standard analogue Rumble 40 schematic shows a 56Hz 2nd order high-pass built in, it would be consistent for the digital version to have something like this if the box/speaker is similar.

I always did this in business. There are many clients that conveniently forget/mis-remember what was agreed and CYA was essential with them.

When I last ordered from dv247 in 2020 the item page said “in stock in romford” and “in stock in central warehouse”, but my items came from the warehouse in Cologne. If you really don’t have the tools and knowledge to fix it then you need to get someone to help. I know that is tricky at the moment, but you might get an experienced basschatter near you to pick the bass up (suitably distanced) and do a quick set-up. It probably just needs the neck relief adjusting (via a truss rod tweak) and the bridge saddle height setting to something sensible. If you want to learn how to do it yourself there is a good series of bass setup videos on the elixir strings YouTube channel. It will mean buying some basic tools though.
