  1. Nothing against that idea. I used to run 15" Peavey cabs back in the 90s. I had a massive SWR head at that time. It was all ridiculously heavy.
  2. I despise driving haha. The new 2x12 energy cabs look good, but the combined cost for 2 cabs might be a smidge too much. That said, I'm running 300w into a less than stellar cab now, and I can't find a matching cab for *that*. I've seen a pair of neo Ashdown 2x10 cabs for less than £800....
  3. I have a DC7. Fantastic bits of kit.
  4. I'm currently using a Tech 21 VT Bass 500 head into a TC Electronic k-212 cab. I play mostly doom metal, and I'm in a 90s/2000s rock cover band. The Amp is fantastic and rated at 300w at 8ohm and 500w at 4 ohm. I love the head, but the cab is just not *quite* enough for me. I bought it blind when it was cheap but well reviewed, and I've grown to dislike it. It's not hugely heavy, but the shape is unwieldy, and it struggles with lower tunings even with the mids pushed (I don't play below low A if I can help it). I struggle for volume at times when there's insufficient PA support. I need advice on a replacement cab. I can't find a matching k 212, and I don't really like the aesthetic anymore. I'm thinking that I want a brand that won't go obsolete the second I buy it (thanks TC), and can be expanded when I have extra £££. I need it to be able to handle low notes without farting at volume, and probably 2x12. Storing and moving a 4x10 is impractical unless it's not much different to 2x12 specs. I will have £800-900 at most to spare on an 8 ohm cab (probably but open to advice) or a lower cost pair of cabs. I looked at GK neo IV, Markbass energy etc. The used market in my neck of the woods it woeful, an I'm hours away from civilization. Thanks in advance for reading my nonsense.
  5. How has this not gone!? Trying to figure out if I can justify a 4 hour round trip. 😑
  6. When I was a teenager, my SWR Workingman's amp head would 'fuse' every few months of gigging. I'd forever be needing to source spares for the removable fuse in the back of the amp. I had it looked at by techs who never found an explanation. It was never really pushed, volume-wise either. I gave it to a friend when I switched to drums. Stupid.
  7. I saw a Gallien Krueger video on YouTube recently, with his 'replacement'. Might be useful. Found it.
  8. More positive feedback for Mike. Bought a Kink Audio Dozer fuzz pedal. Well packed, good price. I'm happy. It's a monster pedal, that I think has kicked my Way Huge Swollen Pickle off my board. Thanks again!
  9. C standard is a *good* tuning. It dooms. Nice little guitars, these.
  10. I think the offers will come rolling in with postage available.
  11. If I didn't need a new cab, I'd be having it. Great sounding bass.
  12. I tend to agree. It's weird that DG, predominantly make amps for metal players, don't provide steel grilles. My money doesn't stretch to Barefaced etc. so I'm leaning towards a Gallien Krueger neo IV cab. Probably a 2x12 to be honest. I already run a TC Electronic k-212, but want something lighter, more compact and more efficient.
  13. As the title suggests, I'm considering buying a darkglass dg212n, but the cloth grille really puts me off. Does anyone know of an aftermarket steel grille for these Darkglass speaker cabs? I'm also considering the Gallien Krueger equivalent, or *maybe* Mesa Subway if I can stretch that far... Thanks all!
  14. I stopped DI-ing from my Tech 21 VT Bass 500 head in favour of this thing haha. I'll have to look for a Capo at some point then. I'm in the search for a new 1x15 bass cab first though.
  15. Cracking piece of kit, doubly so at this price.
  16. Tempting. My 2x12 could do with a big brother....i don't think I have the room. Great sounding cabs, despite the weird design.
  17. Insane price for a new Epiphone, but at least than £500, I'd have one.
  18. Toto 'Hold the Line'.... I know, I know but it's well out of my doom metal wheelhouse. It's a cracking song.
  19. Wasn't the thing with the Grabber, the moveable pickup? I assume this isn't? If I saw one at a good price, I'd snap this up though. They still sound great even without the gimmick.
  20. I have a Charvette (by Charvel) body that needs a new neck. It's my first bass, so it's nostalgia really. It was never *that* good. My luthier told me that the neck is no good; truss rod has broken somewhere. The 'made in Japan' Gotoh tuners are nice though. It's encouraging to see this type of thing. I will measure the neck pocket, and go from there.
  21. Anyone know how good/awful the fretless version turned out to be? I haven't seen any reviews.
  22. This is one of the few punk albums from my teens that I still listen to. NOFX' Punk in Drublic has some good lines too. Al Cisneros was a huge influence on me. Dragonaut is the riff I play first whenever I try a new bass...or fuzz pedal.
  23. I have this. It is actually amazing! I had some knock off stuff from Dunelm when I misplaced it temporarily...it was bad 😅
