  1. Why choose between these two? I wouldn't really choose either. If forced....the EHX just because I have several EHX pedals. Bear in mind that the DI is thin sounding.
  2. Have you looked at the Ibanez Multiscale 5 strings? Really nice sounding B strings on the BTB series. There's one for sale on Bass Direct for £800. Pretty colour too. Pretty sure the big man would approve.
  3. Compared to newer stuff it's heavy but I like it. It's reassuringly solid.
  4. I have a black one of these. The active preamp was fried, but I swapped it for an Aguilar, and it is my favourite bass currently. Super slim, fast neck. Heavy but not noticeable really.
  5. FFS. I've just bought a v5 24 fret.
  6. So are these things worth the money? Should I just buy a Cort C4/B4 or a Sire V5? I need a cheap backup bass for a covers band I'm playing in. Current using a Westone Thunder 1A (with Aguilar preamp). It's comfy but a bit nasal 😂. I don't usually play 4 strings.
  7. Bugger. Mine arrived in the post this afternoon. 😂
  8. Being a metal guy, I'm enjoying the Nine Inch Nails and Therapy? ones the most. The Foo Fighters ones are a bit dull tbh and Linkin Park can suck my balls.
  9. I'm joining a new covers band. Bunch of middle aged blokes having fun. No stress they say. I don't know *any* of this stuff. I sort of remember some of it from 25+years ago. I'm a metal head. Never even heard of some of this stuff. It's a slog. The *list* Little Monster- Royal Blood When I come around-Green Day Pulling Teeth-Green Day She-Green Day Ruby Soho-Rancid All the small things-Blink182 My own worst enemy-Lit Machinehead-Bush Everlong-Foo Fighters My Hero-Foo Fighters All I want to do is rock-Travis Cry to me-Solomon Burke (rocked up) Past Lives-Borns (rocked up/tuned down) Chandelier-Sia (rocked up/tuned down) I stopped to fill my car up-Stereophonics (rocked up) Ashes to ashes-Faith No More Numb-Linkin Park Screamager-Therapy? 10. I have one and it's really good. I have not felt the need to buy a real one.
  11. How does this bass compare to a Squier or Sire? I know we have to co suffer that this is normally a bit more expensive than Thomann is selling but...
  12. Well who'd have thought 🤔 😁 Cheers.
  13. How does one get a Sadowsky decal? Sorry if I'm being stupid. Thanks. I'm really tempted by one of the green MO 4 string PJs. Reviews are mixed though? I've seen it said that they don't 'stay' set up for long and need frequent tweaks? Any truth to this?
  14. I've just ordered a DOD Carcosa fuzz pedal from Hotrox. I am planning to swap out my Swollen Pickle for the Carcosa.
  15. Primus 'Tommy the Cat'. I just don't have the patience.
  16. I absolutely love Doom. Almost as much as I love Black Metal. The new Bongripper LP is amazing.
  17. Current setup. Waiting for a Laney Digbeth DB-PRE, and a 60cm patch lead to connect the SP to the Wooly Mammoth clone. I don't think I like the Swollen Pickle on the board because the Splinter needs to be on to give it sufficient boost. The Wooly Mammoth clone is very nice though. The chorus was £30 and due an upgrade to something else. I absolutely love the Orange Kongpressor. It adds a really nice flavour to the clean tone. DIY pedal board made from an IKEA shelf (remember this one kids!?). The power supply is a Cioks DC7 screwed to the underside. I tend to play doom and black metal, but messing about with a 90s alternative rock cover band too.
  18. Theres a photo of the ID label (from the underside of the cab) in the OP.
  19. The bands were all Metal/Nu Metal acts. They performed as I'd have expected them to. They were proficient and knew their material. It *might* have been the PA? I was at the front, with a barrier between me and the stage. I just felt deflated after the night ended. I had not seen an obviously ampless gig before. There was no on stage backline, and the bands shared members/equipment (practical re pay, setup etc)
  20. As a punter, I hate it. I saw several tribute acts recently at a medium sized venue, who all played direct into the PA. I was stage front, and it was strange and lacking in Energy. As a musician, I like to feel my clothes flapping in the air coming off the cabs. It's ROCK AND ROLL! I'm a recent returnee to playing though and haven't arrived at the point where I need to decide on this approach. I might feel different.
