  1. First gig for the BBP and yep digging it At first out of the box, felt the BBP to be a bit soulless but totally got over that last night. Great to go from P bass to zingy jazz - my fender jazz has other qualities but can’t see it getting played ahead of the Yam at the moment
  2. i’d certainly be doing the same - or they might just give discount than go through the process- always had good customer service from Thomann
  3. Yeah thought £499 was tempting was waiting till payday but…Wondering if a new version is about to drop with an fx loop? I’m going to use the foot switch with tuner on pedalboard
  4. And they confirmed no import duty. Yeah if I sold my pedals they’d easy pay for this head. Though I’m not doing that till I’m convinced this is the way to go. But yeah great deal.
  5. Just ordered the Head from Thomann UK BLACK FRIDAY DEAL £422! So hopefully the bit on their website about no import duty is correct and a fender 210 V3 black cab - had a 210 and fender 500 head before and was nice and punchy and will do for what i'm doing now
  6. The BBP34 passed its audition with the band. Had to turn the amp down. Noisy jazz pup but blended in was great and easy to change down the line. So easy to play. Wore thinner strap and after 3 hours started to feel it. But my wide strap will sort it. Balance on strap great. Did I say so easy to play? Well it was. Keeper.
  7. This arrived about an hour ago. Keeper. Just put flats on it. Amazing tone, sustain, intonation, playability- yep 👍 well done Yamaha taking it to studio tomorrow- first gig Saturday
  8. Let us know - but i'd double check - but if not that's a sweet deal and i might follow suit - tho - a new cabinet might be first on the list
  9. Spanish flamenco handmade guitar bought from new in 2003 from specialist classical guitar shop in Euston - solid spruce with deep rosewood fretboard solid sycamore sides - so no laminate - with modification - superb K&K sound pure classic pick up connected via strap button (£150) - sounds superb due to solid tone woods and plays like butter Pickup Clitheroe or will meet within hour drive - can post to 🇬🇧 £15 boxed
  10. Thomann have reduced the Katana-500 Bass to £499 - it's still 20% on top duty to UK- hoping some UK shops will see this and make theirs sub 600£ - read a comment about the mute button doesnt mute the DI - which seems daft and the fan is a bit noisy - but still like the idea - as some of demo sounds have been great from Bass the World video
  11. I’ve heard good things about the 400 series (thinking of possibly one down the line) but I wanted something of a sure thing after having last 2 brand new basses both have faults and was a really good deal - I have a superb Japanese Fender Jazz bass and in fact have never had a bad Japanese made bass - whereas I’ve had some mediocre MIAs - so after the short experience with the 734a, I’m pretty confident that the 34 will be fantastic… hopefully
  12. Yes same pickups same everything except the IRA sound treatment and made in Japan as opposed to Indonesia - and better case. But yes love the passive tone. I used the 734a in passive mostly - I love a sunburst which I’ve gone for but the cream and the midnight blue are nice too- wish they did a natural finish though really looking forward to this one - got some gigs coming up
  13. Ah it’s going back tomorrow as truss rod doesn’t work and the passive circuit cut out at rehearsal for a few mins - so yesterday found a new BBP34 on Black Friday sale which arrives Tuesday - apart from the faults the 734a was good - loved the neck and clear tones
  14. my guitarist said the same - i think my jazz has set a hex on any other bass that's the last 2 - i had a run of good basses until trying to but new ones!
  15. got 734a on Weds, rehearsal last night. - passive circuit died for about 3 mins - weird - might have been temperamental switch - but it's going back as allen key doesnt fit into truss rod - no purchase - so 2 strikes within 48 hours - going back to Yamaha - how they can send one out like that i dont know - but has put me off an otherwise great playing bass - if i get another will be from a guitar shop that will test it first - pah!
  16. Got the BB734a today. I get it now. Great bass. Got TI flats on. Rehearsal tomorrow 😎
  17. They accepted wasn’t my fault and 10% restocking fee £95 - bit steep but fair enough
  18. There was a dent on the neck when it arrived and now merchant city music are trying to charge me £150 for something that wasn’t my fault. Fighting this claim. 😟
  19. Didn’t get in with the sharp edges if the Triads jazz bomb pickups - so sent it back. Great bass just daft ergonomic choice. So keeping the Dub King for now - it’s a fun bass to noodle on
  20. If it was 34inch scale it wouldn’t be for sale. Still thinking of keeping it
  21. Ah I’m sending it back. I just can’t get on the edges of those pickups. I wrote to Reverend they said to stick tape on. And I thought hold on over 1k with case. No mate - make a better bass. Apart from that thought it was great.
  22. Cheers I’m going to stick a bit of electrical tape over the edge of the neck pup - can’t wait to hear it through main rig tonight
