Cheers Shaggy - I was looking at getting a Starfire 1 - and Lobster really likes the new one - and watch the promo videos but kept looking at the natural Starfire 2 as bassist from Cactus Flowers was in session on KEXP and it sounded awesome but then when this came up it was an immediate yes. Got from fellow BCer yesterday - who did an extra mile in packing it to me i love the Byrds so to get a Hillman bass is for me brill - I don’t like signature bass’s per se - did have Bruce Thomas and keep looking at the Bass Centre possible Deacy PB. Also I find the necks on most semi acoustic basses too narrow- and this is 38mm but the curve of the neck is really great. The position of the pick up is perfect - the bass is woody thump but clarity of the notes is just super with a touch of growl. The stock flats let you glide around. The action is low. Intonation pretty good. The E string struggle a wee bit past 12th note but I don’t play notes there - it’d be on the A string on a strap there’s a fair bit of neck dive like the Jack Casady but with a leather strap it’s fine the looks of this bass are a dream - attention to detail and build quality are superb- I’ve owned a few semis and this is the best

Hi BCers Got lovely Fender American Standard 2013 today enjoying it loads but sender put some much sellotape around the edges of the case that it took 15 mins to remove but has left sticky residue everywhere Any products recommendations to remove the sticky but not attack the vinyl of the case?

I watched on my iMac which is great for bass - the Noble did sound more how I like bass to sound but as you said minimal - as most of the guys said on the clip - so JDI or Ampeg might be more of a proposition- also imagine losing a Noble at a gig! If I was a pro bassist maybe. The Sean Hurley Noble vids are good but he’d make anything sound good as it’s technique more than anything

I agree if money was no object then Noble but I did see another video on that guys channel looking at the Ampeg and it does look versatile- more research needed

Blind test I picked the noble blind won’t say which it is but the Radial JDI at a quarter the price sounded good too

it sounds amazing too on last concert film - he also has a Harmony H22 that sounds mint - i'd like both

Howdy sir, just bought a US Standard 2013 (awaiting NBD) and usually had been either La Bellas or TI flats but after seeing so many good reviews for GHS Precision flats - i've just bought some from Stringsdirect - Did you find them sticky - in rehearsal never do but have done when gigging - also how do you find the tension compared to your Standard with 760FLs on?

Nice brave move - Please tell me this now makes the bass sound like Sean Hurley? I think that video has the best P tone ever - he's such a tasteful player - I want to do this but i'm afraid i'd slip and ruin bass 🙂 :-0

that's a beauty of a P - i got a lovely aged white gone cream CIJ from GAS STATION - had to spend cash with luthier to sort neck bend and electronics which they refunded me - so agreed should spend more time sorting before sending but good prIces and really good selection of stock
