Thanks Thunderpaws - I agree these are ace! I've really connected with this bass and been playing it everyday - i keep picking it up - it's become number one bass - it's not got the power of my custom build who's neck is more forgiving - the CIJ is more precise which the clue is in the name but there's something about the neck that i love - so good like you say to get around it I also had a white PB62 that had aged to a lovely cream - that was superb - but this one is the one!...for now (damn you GAS)

Tele Bass luthier custom build by James at Electric Relic Co for sale. I had this made by Electric Relic to my spec. A lot of thought (too much really) has gone into this bass. I wanted a Tele bass with body contour in a natural colour. Very hard to come by and originals now go for silly money. I’ve decided to list here as finally found a natural PB70 CIJ after owning a superb cream one - but after missing out on bids got one from Bass Bros. SO now it's not getting the love it deserves - i've got the custom thing out of my system Featuring a lovely biscuit colour that looks like roasted maple and aged to perfection. Maple neck super smooth with chunky but not baseball bat dimensions- no fret sprout and intonation all good from the original type bridge. No fake decal but you’re free to add one. Nitro finish. An alder body to keep weight down to approx 8.5lbs so a lot lighter than the original Tele bass. String through body. Strung with la Bella low tension flats. Custom aged pick guard. Cloth wiring and CTS pots and the secret sauce is a 0.10 orange capacitor and handmade overwound (7500k) Fralin pickup which gives this that Motown thump and bigger output than any P I’ve played, it’s a dream to play and sounds immense, warm and huge. ADDED pic without guard This bass attracts a lot of attention at gigs and had great compliments about the sound from other bassists. id prefer you come and play it and are happy before buying - it’s a lovely thing. Comes with a brand new Gator soft case Also can take stickers off if you want they won’t mark the guard. All aftermarket parts except Squier CV neck and tuners (I asked for this as played one before and like the profile) which cost £800 then £450 to put together and art of making it look so great (happy to supply invoice as proof). So I’m taking a big hit on what I paid so price is firm. Also shipping only to UK. PayPal friend fam preferred. Get yourself a brilliantly luthier made custom bass at more than a third of the price of a Fender Would consider swap for JMJ Mustang or Vintera Mustang or funky short scale to back up my CIJ for palm muting vibes

Added guards prob will take pup guard off but bridge has got foam wedged in. Great
-
Ah sorry didn’t have my readers on. I’m not sure tbh
-
It’s based on the 1970 model - so 70 - you sometimes see PB62 etc so it refers to the original year that spec came out. You’re right there is something righteous about them. First gig last night, my guitarist lived it. Was big round and fat tone

I debated for about 10 mins as I’ve been wanting one like this for ages but it took 10 mins because I’d spent a chunk on my custom build and just bought a mustang the week before. But I thought sod it, I’m glad I did been playing it every day since

My band West on Colfax did a Nartowboat session first track came out this week. It was very very cramped and the set up by the engineer took about 2 hours (plus an hour chatting first) and as I was crammed into the corner - I was in first and in the boat the longest (I get a little claustrophobic but I was kinda fun so stayed calm) we only did a first take of all three tunes and the engineer talked us into keeping this one. You’ll need headphones to hear the bass and you may notice I’m playing quite high up the neck - that’s because Andy the guitarist next to me was so packed in - I literally could not get the room play over the pick up - Andy’s leg and playing arm were brushing me the whole time. I like him but he’s not my type 😅 anyways I hope you enjoy - I only have a Facebook link - they do this and make a yearly CD to raise money for Cabcer Research https://fb.watch/eaazqSJaue/?mibextid=qZdngE&fs=e&s=cl

Same with this I always lightly sand the gloss. Sorry,I meant the overall look, it was too high gloss - whereas this bass has had chance with age to loose that super sheen - will have a look at the Allen pup. In my P51 I got an overwound Fralin pup and that’s deep and round
-
Got to agree. I had the PB70 FSR the neck was the best but it was too glossy and the pups weren’t that great - but this is just right
-
Thanks Jonsey it’s hard to be objectI’ve when your in the honeymoon phase but I played it so much yesterday my fingers hurt, which is surprising. The neck is near perfect and the sound is crisp and deep. It might be the best P I’ve had . My last CIJ was super, but this tops it. Probably because I prefer the natural look. It’s had time for the gloss to gas off a little so it’s not super shiny - still sanded the neck a touch. Will at Bass Bros has done a great string set up and had some low tension La Bellas, so spot on for me.

Nice pair. I’ve shielded the pots cavity. Air sprayed the slightly clicks tone pot - all sorted been playing it for a couple of hours and love it
-
Nice tort like it

yeah would love a rosewood board - my brother-in-law has a PB70 ash with a rosewood board from 78 and he wont sell it! he doesnt play in a band - he bought it in83 - BUT THATS NO EXCUSE - he lent it to me for some recording and I fell in love then he took it back

feels like a keeper but you never know

NBD CIJ PB70 99 reissue - a beaut and super light. Love CIJ basses such quality builds, had a PB62 reissue and loved it but sold to fund custom build. I been after a natural PB70 but hardly see them, I just love a natural bass. I had the MIM FSR PB70 from think 2018 and the neck was superb but didn’t like the pups - should’ve changed them as regretted selling it. This might give my custom build a run for its money, got gig next week might take it out. Free set from Bass Bros too - recommend them

Rehearsed with it tonight. Was good - be useful back up
-
I did sell it- that was very thumpy and has a wider neck - might get a long scale one one day. I’ve always liked Mustangs though
-
Just got one of the new FSR Squier Mustangs as I miss having a short scale. Forgot how small the necks were prefer chunkier Vintera. But at this price point set up is great out of the box. Very low action, intonation 90% there already. It’s fun and colours look great. Now waiting on the postie with GHS flats to get some thumpy tones
