  1. Bought the Planet Waved years ago and it fits a barrel Jack lovely but this is on the blink. Would love to get a new one but where? anyone know name of these with the extra connections pics below can’t remember where I bought it so lifetime warranty gone. And D’addario seem to own PW now ta
  2. Yeah any of my basses have gone mostly for financial reasons - the fact that the energy companies have been siphoning my records and bass gear money hasnt helped - i. think this bass needs a full set up - more cash spent on it making it not a cheap buy but rehearsed with it last night and sits in the mix really nice and was even with high action really good to play
  3. Ah that’s worrisome- I think the strings are too high and the pickups too low - had to order a Allen key as none of mine fit the babicz but loving the lightweight ness and fits in the band sound nicely
  4. Had a bit of a bonus so treated myself to an import from US of Gibson EB14 - i wanted a different vibe from a PB and this looks like their version of a Musicman Sabre bass but passive First impressions needs a set up but came with TI flats so saved some cash there - slight crackle from the jack - so will take off the scratchplate later in week, night just need a blast of air. The neck - satin back on maple which feels great with slab of rosewood - needs oiling and truss rod needs a quarter turn i'd say. Great bridge, bass is very resonant. String spacing of 20mm which for my sausage fingers is great (my fave bass Starfire 1 thats the only downside slim string spacing) action is higher than i like it so will get puzzling bridge out this week as intonation is out about 5% at octave. Finish is lovely satin nitro and it's really light I'm guessing 7lbsish. The only thing which is concerning at mo is that there's a really pronounced drop off in volume between fully open then from 80% down - the pickup height looks a bit too low for me. The humbuckers are fairly thumpy - the neck is muddy some but with coil tap there's a real good usable selection of tones for what i do. Anyone else had such drop off? I am only using it at in house- not annoy the neighbours levels at mo, till tonight. In time for rehearsals tonight - so can road test it
  5. A set of Duncan Designed PB101 pickups from a Squier Vintage Modified P Bass 2010 Great sounding and versatile range of tones and has vintage cloth leads. Read somewhere that these are hotter than regular at 17.01 K Ohms. Mounted on rubber padding Includes mounting screws. Inc to postage UK
  6. Really nice chunky - almost D profile neck from a Squier VM P Bass from 2010 - the wood has had time to darken a bit and has lovely patterning on board - 42mm nut and got a lovely feel with absolutely no fret sprout and roundish corners Comes with tuners which are solid. Neck plates and screws. Also a set of Fender flats that were on it too Will make someone a nice feeling neck for a project One point to say is that there's a misaligned hole in the neck joint (see image and reflected in price)- but some wood glue and you'll be good to go - this shouldn't hinder it Priced to sell - postage £7 to UK
  7. Made a few years ago and was bought from this parish for a build i have just finished Northwest Guitars Precision Bass Body, Alder, originally Brown Sunburst, which was stripped and painted Fiesta Red with Nitrocellulose paint (looks slightly lighter than pics like Tomato soup -beautiful - I'm just not a red person basswise). lightly relicd. Squier VM bridge 2010 CTS Pots 250k Audio Taper Solid Shaft. Sprague Orange Drop 0.047 Capacitor. Quality tort guard Heavy knurled knobs All shielded Lightly aged bridge cover Lovely body contours Roughly about 2.5-3k no scales but lightweight and resonant Just needs some pups and a neck and away you go - good project starting point Postage £10 to UK
  8. Yes it'll make someone a nice bass to have - very very smooth neck
  9. I like Ken;s videos you can tell he's passionate about his company and i like that the tech's sign off each guitar - this is why i went on the road trip to have a go for myself
  10. What the necks like on these? The main thing for me is a nice neck - then sound - as I find you play better and that improves your sound if you feel “at one” with the bass
  11. Thanks for the tip - I’ve just bought a Fazley Outlaw Peacemaker in green which boasts an oiled body - rolled edge, roasted neck for £161! So mod platform inbound https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/electric-bass-guitars/fazley-outlaw-series-peacemaker-plus-red-electric-bass-guitar-with-gig-bag
  12. There may have been there was about 30 basses there and as I got sidetracked by others but yeah not for me
  13. So I woke up early and thought why don’t I make a 400 mile round trip up to Glasgow to go see the Reverend bass collection at Merchant City Music - I may have a problem - I’m selling most of my basses but keep seeing the buzz and Reverend - and had day free so hey. Anyway tried the Decision P which was ok - neck was alright but i can’t get over the extra offsetness of the bodies. Next I tried the Triad and it had 2 really really nice pickup options out of the 5 - the bridge pick up was thin but the neck and middle together was great. But the aesthetics are not for me. Whilst I was there, the staff were attentive but also let you get in with it. So I tried some more options- JMJ Mustang - yep good 👍 Nate Mendel P - awful set up and just wasn’t feeling it - FGN Jazz - didn’t note model about about £600 - very great playing neck - sounds good but not for me - then the Gold Foil Fender Jazz - WTF is going on with MIM Fender? The neck felt awful- £1300 to feel fret edges under binding - it just felt not worth it. Then at more than 6 times cheaper the SX P £200 - great neck - the pups had less output - but some good pickups and maybe bridge upgrade/ tuners could be a really useful back up. I stupidly didn’t have a go of the anniversary 4005 Ric- can’t afford it anyway. Had quick drive round the city then drive home £60 petrol and no bass bought but tempted to get an SX and upgrade it
  14. Was Squier CV Mustang - so nice and light and very easy to play- neck been finished with nitro and wax potted pickups done by a luthier and they have done a cracking job of making logo etc like original US - quite a dark sounding growler -pictured with flats on but now has fresh set of rounds on it - so harmonic city - but you might want to set it up a tad - comes with padded guitar bag in a nice light grey - also original parchment pick guard too A lovely little bass for someone Price inc delivery or can drive about an hour of Clitheroe
  15. Another one i'm letting go as no band no need for 5 basses and i love the neck on this and the natural colour - but its just going to sit here now not getting played - so it's pretty much brand new with La Bella low tension flats on that makes it like butter No case but still have box etc You can see all specs on Andertons Can deliver up to an hour from Clitheroe - postage to UK inc in price
  16. The band i've spent 7 years plugging away at has folded - so kinda feel like jacking it in - so keeping 1 maybe 2 basses and flogging 2 or 3 now Anyway this super sexy relic started life as Squier and has been lovingly punked up by previous owner- screams Paul Simonon/Sid Vicious (maybe get a black pick guard) - it just feels old not just looks it - it's about 8lbs so not as heavy as the 70s ash body ones - neck has been refinished with amber nitro and no sharp frets and feels authentic Nice flats on it - so does thump as well as twang - the 40th Anniversary Squier has been well received in these parts so - nice all round bass two small issues - threaded screw on the bridge cover - i usually have this off but the other screw holds it down good - and screws on top side of case are loose - ok for transporting though and lovely looking lining - can be fixed - See pics (also screw missing from neck plate has been added now) Can deliver within hour drive of Clitheroe - might consider slightly longer for petrol - or ParcelForce for £20
  17. I was looking at the twice the price Eastwood when I saw this but my mustang is doing what I want a shorty - but definitely an option
  18. Not often - I got to Manchester a fair bit if that helps
