I once owned a BC Rich (Platinum Series) Warlock that I bought to emulate my then guitarist, and the headstock dive on that thing made me strongly dislike playing it, so I traded it in for a Crafter electro-acoustic that I also realised I very much disliked because I'm not in my heart an acoustic player, not even partially. Of the six basses I have owned (I don't buy and sell much, don't go in for collecting really and I'm a lefty), those were the two not to be given names.

Sounds like they were the ones lacking style - speaking one goth to another. Plus, the Bongo's do look rather fetching in my opinion.

The only effects unit I bought this year, the HX Stomp XL - definitely an evolution on how I do things. Everything is now small and clean looking. No damned patch cables getting in the way, and partnered with the Nu>X C-5RC wireless system really frees up my floor space.

Out: HX Effects VTBassDI In: Nu>X C-5RC wireless system HX Stomp XL Not a terriby expensive year, equipment-wise. I do fancy a set of wireless monitoring headphones though, so I don't know I'm going to last 2025 without a purchase, unless I get the order placed really soon.

Love Under Will - Fields of the Nephilim

Just in today. Decided to go all-in and just have one thing to do everything I need and is compact. A relatively small step from an HX Effects and a VTBASS DI, but an important one to me. Free at last from patch cables and pedalboards, yes!

Oh, I bought a Nu>X C-5RC wireless unit so you can mark me down as out since the 5th August.

Botox and Fillers (would you) audition related

Well, I can't speak for every woman but for myself and some of the women I know who are in bands, we wouldn't get a tattoo or a facelift for a band. I do have a fair bit of ink but because I wanted it and not to appease anyone but myself. Like BigRedX, I'm also in the goth scene but I've not felt pressure to present in any way that I didn't want to. Heck, I don't even wear makeup - but, no one's going to accuse me of not being goth enough with some of the tattoos I have. Likewise, I do not wear my years quite as heavily as others seem to do. -
I recently jumped into the wireless world, but not wanting to spend big money that I don't have, and not wanting a cumbersome body pack, I eventually opted for the Nu>X C5-RC. I needed something that would most likely work with active basses (it does), and from the reviews I watched and read, the Nu>X systems seemed to be amongst the best at a price point I could afford. So far, it's all been good, but I've not tried the system outside my flat. I did think it wasn't working on my Schecter SLS Evil Twin but no, I'd turned a volume down before I switched over from my Schecter Riot and forgot to put it back up - which explained how the tuner could pick it up but still get no sound.

Fields of the Nephilim do that walk on, play, walk off thing with only a "thank you very much" to acknowledge the audience. It works for them.

Westenra at the 1 in 12 Club in Bradford last weekend. They were great.

Well, "he" is a she and no, she doesn't own other instruments. I traded my keyboard in last year along with most of my pedals for an HX Effects.
-
I bought a power supply so I wouldn't be using my Fuel Tank Junior to just power one pedal, so I guess I'm now out. Well, as of about a week ago.

Still in.

Aesthetically, the ST:TOS communicators of the guitar FX world.

I don't have straplocks on either my current basses, but for now, as I'm not gigging or rehearsing with others, I'm not getting them installed. Plus, only my secondary bass has a problem staying on the strap.

I was wrong, it's the Liquifier in the Helix she uses, and since that post I've also switched over to an HX unit and do like the Liquifier the most (my settings are somewhat different the aforementioned friend, though). I've been trying it out in front of a very mild delay (the Elephant Man).

I'm in. Tempted to get myself a spare cable just in case, but for now, that's not happening. Let's see how far I go.

Yeah, that seems legit - I wouldn't call it gear either.

Is that place made out of Shreddies? How good are there for acoustic dampening?

They're pretty new, apparently.

The last gig I went to was Rhombus, Black Riders Cult, and Dhampyres in Leeds on Saturday. I know, goth bands most people won't have the vaguest idea about but worth a listen if you like your music on the darker side as I do, and it's good to give a shout out to smaller bands.

I think I've achieved something akin to that. I can look at basses casually but other than a custom build, almost nothing really comes close to being an upgrade from what I have - which is above both my needs, ability to afford and my skill. As for things like effects - I just got an HX Effects, I virtually have all the effects I could want at this point. As for amps and cabs, I love my VTBass DI and don't need much for home amplification. Plus, I've never found amps and cabs to be particularly pretty - some of those tiny amps are kinda cute though. Now, I say all of that and tomorrow I'll find out someone like Ibanez are releasing a neck-thru lefty headless fanned fret bass with Fishman Fluence pickups, gothic fret markers, Luminlay side markers, ebony fret board and the most beautiful finish I've ever seen and at a price point that's not beyond my ability to save up for - now that, that would get a lass lusting after something new.

I have just 2, a Schecter Riot4 and a Schecter SLS Evil Twin, the former is in drop D whilst the latter is in D standard. I've told this story before, but I'll go again - I'd bought an Evil Twin online from Anderton's but after about 7 months of waiting for stock to arrive I was getting a little impatient, and I just happened to notice they had a lefty Riot4 (Aurora Burst) in stock so changed my order for that - which had been my second choice when I was considering new basses, anyway. Fast forward about a year and I still had a bit of a thing for the ET design and just so happened to be looking on Anderton's site around Christmas last year and noticed they'd finally gotten some lefty ETs in stock and on sale. When they ended up increasing the discount to (I think) £460) I just had to buy! I mean, £460 off is a huge saving on a £1450ish bass. In order to make sure I use both, I had to have them tuned differently otherwise I'd just have the Riot sitting in the corner looking pretty but not getting used.
