  1. Being a known commodity has it's advantages. After 12 years we don't chase after gigs anymore. Blue
  2. You guys don't have stage lions in the UK? Blue
  3. SUMMERFEST 2018 I felt a lot better about this year's show. Respectful size crowd. We played from 5:00-6:00. So, nice and easy to manage as oposed to our bread & butter 4 hour US bar shows. Blue
  4. Too many variables, what type of band, the goals of the band and how much time members agree they can commit to rehearsing. Blue
  5. Corporate gig, 5:00-9:00 Pros 1. Above average pay. 2.Paid in cash as soon as we arrived. 3. Load in was fantastic. ( See pic ) 4. Brand new large stage Cons 1. We're not a corporate/ functions band. We're a bar band. 2.Band wasn't playing up to my standards tonight. 3. The guests had absolutely no interest in the band. SUMMERFEST tomorrow; MAPLE ROAD! SUMMERFEST 2018 Sunday July 8th at 5pm on the ULine Rock Stage. The weather is going to be fantastic, and It's going to be a great night with Seven Dust as the 10pm headliner! Blue
  6. Fun! Love the quality of those backing vocals. Blue
  7. MRX Bass Octave Pedal, plenty of low end up in that 13th fret box. If I'm not using open strings I'm all about playing up there without sacravicing low end. As a matter of fact I'm enhancing the low end. Blue
  8. For me; 1. Thankful after 50 years, I'm still gigging and having fun. 2. Being able to pay all my bills from money earned from gigs. I have low expenses. 3. Not complaining about stuff, bringing fun to rehearsals and gigs. Blue
  9. Great pics, I have that strap too. I never thought much about that strap but I saw a video from the 70s and Alvin Lee had one. And now seeing yours I'm going to start sporting my Fender Strap. Mine came with my American Standard Telecaster, which I never use and should sell. It looks very cool especially with the color of your P Bass. By the way, love the blazers and ties look, Smooth! Blue
  10. I been using the Black Cat for years, it's great unless your doing a lot of outside gigs. You can't read the display in sunlight. Blue
  11. Getting a full band pic is difficult. I'd rather see good individual pics like this one. Thumbs Up! Blue
  12. I wish I was more aware of my house sound. I'll sacrifice low end for sustain for some songs. I'm after what Tom Petersson does for Cheap Trick making the band sound bigger with bass octave , overdrive and even a little modulation from my TC Electronics Hall Of Fame Reverb. For those interested you check out some of Pertersson's rig run downs on YouTube. Hard to believe for so many years I was a Precision straight to amp stand back by the drummer finger player. Blue
  13. Yes to that definitely hope you guys get to go back. It's always nice to have a slew of proper festival bookings. Blue
  14. Understood, the clip is nice, very impressed. Blue
  15. Why didn't they put the bass through the park mix? BTW, nice job on Purple Haze, it's not an easy song to pull off. Blue
  16. It's still a beautiful bass, and I think you can get it in a 12 string. I'm pretty sure Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick plays one. Blue
  17. Any of the decent brand single or double cutaway semi- hollows or hollows will fit the period. You should invest in a period strap as well. Blue
  18. Yes and no, we struggle every year at Summerfest. For example, when we played under Frampton last year we were so off we couldn't use any of the video footage. And I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything but I'm not sure support acts are getting the same sound as the headliner. The sound we had last night was far superior to anything we've had at Summerfest. The owner told me he got the whole system for 12 grand. And it's just main stages throw us off. We do fine at festivals on side stages. But last night certainly revealed we have the ability, when we're burning on all 6 cylinders. Blue
  19. Yeah Dave, I know what you mean about opening. We we're lucky last night as we were on the other side of the stick. People were pretty well lubricated by the time we started playing. Blue
  20. No, the ES- 335 is full scale with a very thin Jazz bass type neck Blue
  21. That's my Custom Shop Gibson ES-335 Bass in vintage faded cherry with vanilla binding. Amy & The Incorruptibles are a very pro sounding rockabilly band so there's no comparison. We're Maple Road. Blue
  22. Agreed, not pretty. However those cables were the least of our concern last night and had 0 impact on our performance. Only one of those cables we're mine, I play wireless. They were cables from the sound crew so I wasn't in the mood for cleaning them up. Blue
  23. I've commented on several lackluster gigs, but last night we hit it out of the park. We played an outdoor festival with one other band , a really good rockabilly band opened for us, Amy & The Incorruptibles (check them out on YouTube). They played 5:30- 7:00 we clised, played 7:30-10:30. 1. Outstanding weather 2. Outstanding tent, stage, sound and ights 3. Professionally Organized 4. Nice crowd and our hard core fans were particularly nice 5. We had played a bar gig Thursday night too. There was a great band vibe and we were on fire from the first note till the last, with a legitimate encore. Our BL did a great job calling songs and we had plenty of our best material we didn't get to play. 6. Great pay, I was paid upfront as soon as I arrived on set. I like that. Really needed this one guys. We don't play again until July 8th at Summerfest " world's largest music fest. We have a 5:00-6:00 slot. Pic, my rig from last night. Blue
  24. Been there many times, we also play a lot of 70s harder rock. For us it's usually when we accept a corporate or wedding gig. We're not a wedding or functions band. It's a brutal experience, playing to a completely uninterested crowd. Take the money and run. Blue
