  1. Cool, I can dig it. Thing is anybody can be a drummer, Ringo was a Beatle. And that's hard to pull off. Blue
  2. It's been said before, the guy that shows up with the shiny new huge elaborate kit and can't play. Blue
  3. Great looking guitar and bass. A lot of binding and classic good looks. I hate to be an old geezer. But man did those guys look great in suits or what? Blue
  4. People think my head is so far up The Beatles arse nobody takes me seriously. As for Ringo, do drums even matter when you have songs that great? Blue
  5. Extra lessons, lol hilarious. I can't stop laughing.? Blue
  6. Since we're talking about money and some if you know I love sharing this story. There is this couple that come out to see our band. On 2 separate occasions they have tipped each band member and our sound person $100.00 each. That's crazy, a little embarrassing, awkward and awesome cool at the same time. I know our cultures are different on tipping. Over here had we tried to refuse the tip it would have been considered insulting. Blue
  7. That's where I'm at too. Put me in a packed bar full of live rock music fans with my band and I feel at home. Blue
  8. Now that I think about. In my area, there's no big pay upgrade for NYE gigs at the bar band level. I think the big NYE pay upgrades apply to Function and corporate band gigs. Blue
  9. Not NYE, but we had a $1,200.00 for our 4 peice. Great little venue out in the sticks a little south of St.Paul Minisota. We did not know there was a $10.00. Turn out was a bust, but somehow they came up with the cash. It was however an awkward situation. Our rule has always been we won't play a place that charges a cover. We're a bar band people shouldn't have to pay to see us. The cover at the door thing has been dead for decades at the bar band level in my neck of the woods. Blue

  11. That's big bucks. I think it's big bucks, I haven't done the math. 9 peice is a big split. Blue Blue
  12. Got it, just stuff happens. Our leader was I'll for a while so we had to cut back. She's better now and I believe we're going to start booking more and getting back up to speed. Me, I'm looking forward to some 3 gig weekends. That's where it's at for me. Blue
  13. Wouldn't surprise me, I've been misunderstanding a lot of stuff lately. I think I went to someone's house today for Thanksgiving because I thought I was invited. Now, I'm not sure if I was really invited. Great food. Blue
  14. Guys, ever play with a drummer who doesn't get this? I think it's just as important that other members of a band understand this bond/relationship. I've laid down really decent grooves looked back at the drummer who is completely oblivious and ignoring you. Lame Blue
  15. I'm thinking that's by design. I thought The Wirebirds we're always wor.king. Blue
  16. I won't complain. I know a few guys that don't have a NYE gig and wish they had. Blue
  17. I disagree, those "bunch of mates" had what it took and the ability for that specific opportunity. If they didn't vthey wouldn't be there. Blue
  18. I live in a relatively large metro area and even here for profit gigging bands are hard to find. Most are "for fun only" and "we only want to gig once a month"opportunities. Blue
  19. Screw that, that could be taking money out of my pocket. Blue
  20. I don't even have a passport. An example of not being prepared Blue

    New PA Stuff

Not sure how it works but our sound tech upgraded our PA I don't understand it, but there's no more board, no more snake box on stage with leads all over the place There's a lap top and he mixes everything from a tablet Pretty fancy for a bar band .. Blue
  22. The only bad thing about having a great Drummer, when you lose one they're so hard to replace. Blue
  23. I like your list, actually I love your list. It's taken a while but our new drummer has everything on your list. Most important he sings fantastic high harmonies, has a great look, he's a great guy and people tend to gravitate towards him at every gig. Him and his wife set up and tear down his kit in 15 mins. At first I didn't think he was going to work out. Boy was I wrong. We're lucky we found him ( open mic ). Blue
  24. We play the same bar every NYE. It's always a fun gig, great hours too 2:00-7:00pm. We always pack the place, were friends with the owner (very nice lady) we play this club several times a year. The cash register is always burning up on NYE. We get our regular fee, but the tips are fantastic and the owner always pays us an extra $100 00. So it's always at least $150.00 a man gig. It pays my month condo association fee. Blue
