  1. I know exactly what your talking about. Daryl
  2. I'm a proud member of the February 9th, 1964 club. I watched The Beatles American debut on our Ed Sullivan Show. By the next day thousands of us talked our parents into buying us electric guitars and we all started rock bands. I know you've all heard this story a hundred times . Lol Daryl
  3. In my neck of the woods at the local or regional level you can't make a living playing in a band. Even if you were working your butt off you'd be hard pressed to clear 12k annually. Blue
  4. I had a buddy that spent 6 months putting a 4 peice together. There was a rotten apple in the bunch. They should have seen the red flags. Anyway at the end of 6 months of prep and rehearsals the rotten apple bailed. By that time the enthusiasm was gone and the project was canned. Daryl
  5. I think it's sad when gigs dry up there's no communication and the band falls apart with no proper closure. Daryl
  6. Hats aren't for everybody. I've always stayed away from hats until recently. At 70 my hair is thin and hard to manage. A hat makes things easier. Now, depending on the nature of a gig I'll wear a cowboy hat. I'm cool with it and I didn’t get any complaints. Daryl
  7. I brag a lot about my band. They're young, smart, fair and generous to a fault. We've been together since 2007. Maple Road gave me everything I'd ever wanted in a band. When and if this band folds that will be it for me. I'm too spoiled and I'm 70. I'll go out on a high note. Daryl
  8. Very interesting venue. The living room of a home is converted into a music venue. Lots of Victorian furniture and Persian rugs. There's a nice bar. No liquor license, people bring their own booze. Very well attended. Personally I wasn’t feeling my playing. Something was off. Daryl
  9. THIS WEDNESDAY Thanksgiving Eve Maple Road Rockfield Music & Media Rockfield WI We start at 7:00 BYOB Don’t forget to bring your favorite beverage! Daryl
  10. A bitter sweet gig. Beautiful room, stage monitors were great, comped drink and meals , we sounded good and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately the turn out was disappointing. Daryl
  11. Pete, our band leader didn't want to rock the boat even though he sort of rocked it for us. His style of playing is a perfect match for what we do and his harmonies are really good. Did you see our video clip covering " No Diggity " by Blackstreet ? Daryl
  12. Our drummer basically had other plans/ engagements all of summer 2023. We had two deps we rotated. We we're lucky we didn't have to turn down any gigs. Everybody is different. I don't have a life so gigs rule in my world. Daryl
  13. I'm 70 years old. My 9-1 days are pretty much over. 4:00-7:00 is the new 9:00-1:00 for " boomers" Grandpa Daryl
  14. I'm not sure what the rule is for being a NYE gig literally. Blue
  15. Maple Road is confirmed for Early NYE gig @ The Precinct in Germantown, 4-7pm, right across the street from BarleyPop. I've played the place across the street " Barley Pop. And I've played an acoustic gig at The Precinct. But a NYE Maple Road show will be a first. Nice hours and a 25 minute commute. I'm hoping for a respectable turn out. Daryl
  16. NYE Hotel gig. Sounds nice to me. Civilised is always a plus. Lol Daryl
  17. Share something about your upcoming NYE gig. First time playing the venue, you play there annually, what are the hours, the commute ect... Daryl
