  1. Friday Night Acoustic Gig Blue "Hey West Bend! THIS Friday night! Live music on the patio at King Pin Bowl and Ale House! If the weather cooperates, bring your favorite chair! If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll play inside, so you won't need your favorite chair! Hope to see YOU! Special guest Kevin Henkel joining us on percussion." She's Right - I'm Left
  2. I'm still doing a few 3 hour shows. It's long. Blue
  3. Agreed, it's very hard. I'll go out and pick up $125.00 on a Thursday night, $200.00 Friday night and $150.00 on Saturday night. And if there's a nickel on the floor I'm picking that up too. Lol Blue
  4. I think being able to cover a mortgage and maintain a late model vehicle alone would be tough for most. Another question is what kind of gigs are we talking. With pub gigs I think it would be impossible. Bl I e
  5. I'll be able to pay my property taxes with gig money this year. Blue
  6. I think it's great. We did an outside acoustic gig and a van dropped off a dozen care residents. It was heart warming to watch how cool and appreciative they were. Blue
  7. I'd like to do some care home gigs. It just seems like it would be fun and I'm sure the residents are appreciative. And it's " giving back" to the community. I couldn't get my band members on board with it. I couldn't even get them to listen to the idea. They ignored me. Blue
  8. The guys I envy are the musicians that went to university for teaching. Teach for 25 years played in bands on the side . Then retire at age 50 with a generous teacher's pension then go out and gig full time. Blue
  9. I have a buddy that wants to start an oldies function band. He's retired and keeps stressing " I don't care about the money or if we get paid I just want to gig and play". If you don't care about the money your probably not going to get many gigs Blue
  10. It's tough , I'm retired with a pension. However, I still need my band income as a supplement to make ends meet. Daryl
  11. A new band would be tough. Most new bands are not together long enough to even see their first gig. Just finding 4 guys to fully commit to a band where your all on the same page is a challenge in itself. Getting into an established band with a years worth of solid bookings would be the safest bet. But finding that band and landing the gig would be tough. Blue
  12. It depends, there are so many variables. Your location, your age and what type of band your in and the market for live music. I won't get into the weeds with this . I'll tell you how it works in my neck of the woods. Even where I live where there is plenty of work for bands that know how to get it. You'd have to work your butt off playing 3- 4 times a week to make 12 grand a year. Blue
  13. Thanks Dave I saw a short video clip on Facebook and I was ok, I didn't look like a " goof ball" or anything No active G&L. I played my 2000 MIJ Fender 1951 P reissue. Daryl
  14. Sounds like a lot of work. That stuff with your guitarist that had to move his car really ticks me off. It's like, " What can we do to make things difficult for the band" Blue
  15. Yes, I understand there are good young bands playing traditional rock genres. It's just not as easy to find as it use to be. Blue
  16. Looks beautiful. Interesting, regarding young musicians. It saddens me to say I have not been impressed with the young musicians in my neck of the woods. No bands really. Most of what I see are marginal acoustic solo and duo acts. So I wonder what will happen with actual rock bands, what's the future. Most guys my age (70) around here are starting to throw in the towel. Blue
  17. Thanks, but I don't really do anything except tricking people into thinking I'm better than I actually am. 😅 lol Blue
  18. Yeah, I'm not really sure why they had me center stage. Blue
  19. The Baree was a good gig. Fantastic crowd. Blue
  20. Maple Road This Saturday 7/1 @ The Baree 7:00 Thiensville Very cool upscale outdoor venue. Probably the most important gig of the summer. Blue
  21. I get it. I'm not a " I don't care about the money" guy. I need my gig money to supplement my pension. I'm proud to say I was able to pay my 2023 property taxes with gig money. Blue
  22. Some of you know I recently posted a video I performed in on my socials. Except for you guys I got very little response. I even had issues getting close friends to take 2 minutes to watch the video Blue
  23. Every time someone compliments me on my tone and playing it's usually a gig where I was struggling and not playing well. Blue
