  1. I've been playing bass since age 13 or 14. However I didn't start gigging heavily until I was well into my 50s. Live performance has definitely made me a better player. Blue
  2. A better pic of my new cowboy hat. I'll be wearing it at most gigs this summer. Blue
  3. Nice! This is my summer rig. I'm using a 15" now instead of two weeks 10s. Blue

  5. We played The Burlington Jamboree gig today. Not a very big crowd. Great stage crew with top notch sound and lighting . We had a few good moments. You guys like my hat? Blue
  6. I get it. I still struggle with poor attendance. It gets into my head and my playing. Blue

  9. Not a gig, we'll I guess it's still considered a gig. I did a side project, a video shoot for a friend's new CD. I'll post the video when all the post production editing is complete. Fantastic songs. It was allot of work. I was there for hours and those lights were hot. Blue
  10. They picked me up at noon. We had a 40 minute slot at this 10 band 2 stage blues festival. $35.00 to get in. It was a nice festival and playing 40 minutes is cool. We all walked away with $150.00. I could get spoiled by this. $150.00 each for 40 minutes. That's " big time" pay in my neck of the woods. Next weekend another festival, Burlington Jamboree. Blue

  14. I'm 69 and been doing this at one level or another since I was 13. I think about throwing in the towel occasionally. The thing is , I really can't. I'm retired and I depend on the supplement income from gigs. Plus If I quit I'd have nothing to do. Blue
  15. I still struggle with poor attendance and for as long as I've been doing this I shouldn't. I still let it get to my head and playing. Blue
  16. Sometimes we're set up to fail. Ever play a bar/pub gig and they have you play in a separate room with no bar and no bar service. Over here it's the "kiss of death" for a gig. Blue

  19. Agreed, once you get use to being treated and paid appropriately it's hard to turn back. Blue
  20. It's work but fun work. I've always loved the idea of getting paid to have fun. I not sure I ever have the same " work" feeling you'd get from a traditional job. Blue
  21. I think allot of local bands get in the habit of accepting low pay gigs. It's ok to reject those gigs. I get how young new bands have to take those gigs. Blue
