  1. The Beatles The Jimi Hendrix Experience Blue
  2. Very nice Telecaster bass. Mine is a MIJ Fender P. Blue
  3. Depends on what your looking for. For example, say you want to gig and you find your hot shot musician doesn't want to do this or that won't play here or there. I don't think there's an upside to playing with jerks or Aholes. In most cases they're going to deal with you before you deal with them. Keep in mind I'm talking about local level pub/bar band opportunities. If I had the opportunity to tour the world with a major artist that's a jerk I'd take it in a heart beat. Blue
  4. Cover band or Originals, the key is playing with good people. Not necessarily good musicians but good people. I would bet most of us would rather play with a marginal musician that's a great guy then the local hot shot that's a jerk. Blue
  5. 3. 5 hour gig, 7:30-11:00.:) It was a 50 minute ride. No traffic , we took the back country roads. Very scenic. I was a little ticked when I couldn't find a parking space. I drove around in circles until one became available. It was a good gig, good size appreciative crowd. We played a John Prine song that went over really well. By the way, it was 12°. Blue
  6. I can't comment on hours anymore. I'm obviously confused. Hopefully we'll take 2 nice breaks. Blue
  7. Your right, I guess my math is really bad. And here I thought I was only working 3 hours tonight. I think it's our acoustic gigs that are 3 hours. Somebody has to be playing 3 hour bar gigs. Blue
  8. Hi Pete, My band is slowly moving away from the 4 hour bar gig format. Were pitching 3 hours for the sane money and were having a lot of success. When fair and festival season starts in June we'll be playing mostly hour to hour and a half shows. Blue
  9. Bar gigs in the States for the most part are 4 hours. 8-12 or 9-1. I'm not sure why, however recently we've been pushing 3 hours. For example tonight we're playing a 7-11 bar gig. Same pay but we knock off an hour.. Blue
  10. Maple Road Live @ Kuhtz’s Pub Stone Bank Rd, Oconomowoc, WI 53066 Sat, Feb 15 @ 7:30PM — 11:00
  11. Yes , that sort of thing happened back in the 70s. Opening acts blowing away the headliner. I'm not sure that happens much these days. Blue
  12. I'm a product of the 60s & 70s. I wish my band could afford IEMs and I wish I could sell my band mates ( all half my age ) on the value of what IEMs could bring to the band. Blue
  13. Great gig atThe 024 in Grafton. Really cool restored room in an old mill from the 1800s. The acoustic branch of Maple Road open for an open mic. All I bring is my bass, I DI into our PA. We play 4 songs and the open mic begins. Blue
  14. Same exact thing happened to me 10 years ago. I was offered the job and they changed their mind when an old friend returned to town. Just say " no problem" and move on. There's not much you can do Blue
  15. Just like playing anywhere in England would be Heaven on Earth for me. The Harley Davidson Motor definitely a tourist spot, lot's of folks from out of State. The Harley Museum is on site too. Great location , downtown right on the Milwaukee River. Great folks to have a relationship with. Blue
  16. Nice easy gig tonight in Milwaukee. The Harley Davidson Motor.5:30-8:30. Great hours! No traffic on the way into the city, commute was about 25 minutes. Always a nice appreciative crowd and big tippers too. Easy load in. Everyone showed up in a great mood as usual. We had a blast. Played my Made In Germany Hofner Club. I even took them up on the comped food. I left with a nice cajun chicken dish with fries. Blue
  17. I hope everything works out. When it comes to bookings and availability tight timely communication is essential. I received a gig confirmation a few minutes ago. "Confirmed Maple Road @ Tiki Bar in Dundee, outside if weather cooperates or indoors if not, Sat Aug. 8, 5-9pm, $000.00 👍🏻" My response and what I think is a good response for a lot of us. "Great booking Dave! Thank You" Blue
  18. If he was a young guy, I can see that and I get it. Blue
  19. I just got this text message 5 minutes ago; "Music & Media, N135 W15425 Rockfield Rd, Germantown 53022. Hey guys, new gig on Sat March 7th will be an 8:30pm start time, waiting to hear what time we should arrive to load in." I responded immediately with ; "Nice booking! I'm good for March 7th. Thanks" Seems simple to me, but some guys are not good with email or text messages. I can check our website as a reminder. I always check on Thursday to see what we have coming up for the weekend. Blue
  20. Good luck. If they won't read e- mail will they actually use the app. When I get a text message regarding a booking I respond with a " yes I'm available" because I always am. and a "thank you" within seconds of receipt. Blue
