  1. I agree. My issue with vintage is vintage problems. I would put my 2000 MIJ Fender P up against any early pre CBS P. Daryl
  2. We're back out this weekend at The Twisted Pair. 2:00-5:00. Usually I like Sunday afternoon gigs but more in the Summer time and playing outside. Daryl
  3. I think allot of guys in trios are faced with this issue. When trios work it's fantastic when it doesn't it's a train wreck. We have two guitarists so it's not an issue for me. However, for certain songs I will engage my MXR Bass Octave pedal to fill out the sound. Daryl
  4. I had the same experience with Dylan. He sat behind the keyboard the whole night, never looked at or spoke to the audience. The band was too big and the sound was awful Daryl
  5. Cool Lozz, for me it would be Milwaukee's Shank Hall ( it's not a hall it's a club )..I finally got to play there twice opening for signed headliners. Daryl
  6. We're playing the Anodyne at the end of the month with an opening act. I'm not sure how we got the gig, they usually only book national signed touring bands. Daryl
  7. I would say NYE gigs in my neck of the woods are always a great night and lucrative. However for me they've always been what we call early NYE celebration, 3-6 or 4-7. And it's all old people, too old to get out of hand. Lol Doing a late night NYE gig would be challenging for me. Daryl
  8. Love the black jag. What a classy looking gig ! Daryl
  9. Sounds like a successful night and great gig Dave. I left at 2:00, arrived at 2:19. Hauled my gear in. Easy load in but still a painful experience for me. We started at 4:00 and played till 7: 15 ( 15 minutes over). With one 15 minute break. I stood upright the whole show. I didn't have to use a stool. Great atmosphere tons of fans and friends. I set up a little " meet and greet " area for myself in a cool booth with a cool chandelier hanging over it. Nobody wanted to talk to me. Lol Daryl
  10. I took some lead photos last night. Lol Daryl
  11. That's so weird but not uncommon, guys showing up for auditions unprepared. It's one of the reasons the auditioning process can be a pain. Daryl
  12. Agreed, I could be replaced. It would be different but I could be replaced and probably easily. I replaced the original Maple Road bass player in 2009. Daryl
  13. Great night, great gig. Daryl
  14. Great early New Years Eve gig. Great crowd and great food. We had a few tempo and ending issues. Overall a good night. Daryl
  15. Pete, It's nice to have Bass Chat to discuss these common issues. Everybody is different. For me, at 71, doing these gigs are starting to be very difficult physically. I'm having thoughts about how long can I go on doing this.
  16. Have a great night Dave. Let us know how the night goes off. Happy New Year ! Daryl
  17. Sitting on the edge of my bed with my 2000 MIJ Fender P. No amp. Daryl
  18. Get home safe. I have it a little easier if everything goes right. "Hey guys sorry a bit late. Load in tomorrow at Precinct around 2:30/2:45, doors open at 3:30, showtime @4🤘🏻👍🏻" It's only an 18 minute commute. However, I'm concerned about the forecasted fog and driving on back country roads. I'll help tear down which means getting home at 8:30. Daryl
  19. Thanks Pete, My GPS says it's only an 18 minute drive. However, with fog anytime on the road is bad. Daryl
  20. I tie the leads in a bow. Lol Daryl
  21. Pete, I want everybody here gigging tomorrow night to make it back home safely. We have a lot of fog in the forecast tomorrow and I'm driving on back country roads. Daryl
  22. Our 2024 NYE gig. 4-7 OF COURSE we’re doing an early NYE show! Happy to be back at The Precinct in Germantown again this year to get the party started with an afternoon of high energy rock & blues! Here’s what you need to know this time around: -first come/first serve for all tables&seating -reservations NOT accepted this year -doors open at 3:30pm sharp! -don’t campout overnight but don’t be late!😆 -music starts at 4!
  23. That's pretty much me. However, I do wind leads and do a little light lifting. Daryl
  24. Some guys take being in a band to serious. For example, I know that my role in my band is not making song selection, where and when we'll gig or who we will use for depping or anything. My role is to play bass, show up and be thankful you're in a band that makes good money. One thing I've learned from this thread. If you own the PA and lights and do all that other stuff like booking and social media you are much harder to replace. Daryl
  25. The Birthday was a decent gig. The dep drummer was pretty good too. We sounded pretty good with a few high points throughout the show. The dancing started a little later after the booze kicked in. Lol Sorry, the pics aren't very good. But, you get the idea Daryl
