  1. Got it, so it a personal preference. I have 3 Gibson basses and haven't gigged any of them in a while. Blue
  2. That's money that could probably be better spent elsewhere. What's the big selling point or distinguishing attributes of an Epi Ripper? Blue
  3. Yeah, compared to a lot of gigs, the BlondiePop is pretty posh. I'm not sure why I've been wearing long sleeve dress shirts . Blue
  4. We did the BlondiPop gi:g in our hometown last night. 8-11 Cool local place that does a good job with local music. Very nice local " well to do" crowd. Mix of youngsters and oldsters. I didn't think we were as " on" as we were at the previous 3 gigs. I thought we were kind of sloppy. I certainly made my share of mistakes. Blue
  5. I love this stuff. Joe graduated from Montclair HS in 1965. I graduated in 71. Blue
  6. I'm horrible at booking. I booked a gig for the band once. It was a disaster. We were lucky we got paid. Blue
  7. It's really hard building up relationships that will generate consistent business. We've been at it for 15 years and it's still a battle. Most of our gigs come from "call ins". Our relationship with The BlondiePop came from our BL hosting open mics there. Blue Maple Road Come out and see us. January 18th Saturday Night @ The BLONDIEPOP 225 S 5th Ave West Bend WI 8:00-12:00
  8. I'd be on board with all that. To be honest, besides me, I'm not sure anyone in the band knows specifically what a producer does. Blue
  9. In the States you can fill out festival applications until your blue in the face. If you don't know anyone you'll never get a slot. Not even a 10:30 AM slot. Blue
  10. Depends on where your located. In my neck of the woods open jams are vehicles for guitarist, blues harp guys , singers to network and play but not bass players. Blue
  11. Clockwork Orange was one of my favorite movies as a teen. I find it hard to watch as an adult. Too violent Blue
  12. As long as were gigging regularly and the songs are called my memory for songs is great If your going to call a song we haven't played in 2 years, that's a different story. Blue
  13. "Clockwork Orange", hope everyone gets the reference. That movie must be 50 years old at least. Blue
  14. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you find the right band for you. Blue
  15. We were established players with great material. However, they spent too much time on photos, videos and merchandise and nothing on gigs The BL was happy playing basement Rock Star. I'm sure I'm not the only with this type of experience. Thank God my band of the past 8 years is run by a husband and wife team, real " go getters".When it comes to bookings and business they're "tops". Blue
  16. I get it, however, if someone's main interest is gigging your chances are a lot better joining an established band with gigs on the books than joining a "start up". Now finding that established band and winning an audition is another discussion. None of the start ups I joined ever gigged. Blue
  17. I wouldn't give up on bands, however I tell anyone who's looking to gig to stay away from start ups. Most "start ups" never see their first gig. As far as motivation goes pick out songs you like but find the bass parts challenging and learn them. Keep practising so when the right gigging band comes along your ready. Blue
  18. I've seen Pail recently. At that level and with as much technology as that band uses it's would be hard to tell what Paul is actually using. Now if we're talking 1965 Shea Stadium my money says Paul was straight Bass to Amp , no effects no compression. Blue
  19. For some skype might be great. We all learn differently. I have learned a lot from YouTube bass guitar tutorials and some folks find no value in YouTube's offerings. Blue
  20. I'm still listening to a lot of The Alice Cooper Band. Not sure why. I do like watching Nita Strauss. Blue https://youtu.be/R645uRbPl-A
  21. I'm doing 65 gigs, however I'm retired or what I think you guys call a pensioner.. I actually would like to do more health permitting. Unfortunately all other band members have full time jobs. Blue
