No band fund here and our band leader pays us in cash before every gig. No monkey business. Blue

For me it'ss both. Riding home after a good gig with $500.00 cash in my wallet for playing for 70 minutes. I really felt like I had made it. Granted , that's happened once in the last 10 years. But it was a great ride home. Blue

I've played to an enthusiastic crowd of 3,000 and the next day played to10 uninterested people in a small bar. All this stuff goes with the teritory. It depends on your life circumstance. Me, I have no interest in wine or a movie or even a date with a pretty woman over playing a gig. Not saying that won't change and probably sooner than later My point, we all will play crappy gigs. Money slut? Yeah , I get that a lot. " Blue ? Yeah if you throw him a hundred bucks hell do it" But that 100 bucks might make a $400.00 weekend for me. I'm a low level bar band guy. I know some of you don't need the money but I do. Blue

should bands carry on when there's only one original member?

I don't know how that franchise stuff would work. You make a good argument. Do Paul and Gene have kids that would be interestd in carrying the torch? Blue -

It wouldn't be suprised if KISS becomes a franchise where you would buy certain rights and perform. You would have to buy everything from KISS Corporate ( costumes wigs make up all production marketing promotion) , meet stringent performance and production standards. If one hair on a wig is out of place you would be fined. They would book you in specific regions . I really think this is coming. Blue -

Not for everyone. Blue -
This is not uncommon, as a matter of fact many ads for bass players are with bands also looking for a singer, guitarist or drummer. In other words a lot of bass player wanted ads are posted by 1 or 2 remaining members of a sinking ship. This is covered in many of my threads on Auditioning Blue

I know what you mean, but I believe he's singing in key. Those are our locak Midwest boys that did well for themselves. I use to go see them when they were playing bars in Milwaukee in the early 70s. I also got to hang with Rick at a Jeff Brck show in Milwaukee a few years back. Ricks father owned a music store. Rick would take Gibson and Fender guitars over to the UK and sell yhem to some of your stars.. He sold a few guitars to Jeff. Sorry for going off topic.. Blue -

Just like family businesses are passed down to the kids. These bands are also businesses and are passed down to the kids. Blue -

Agreed, all good points and Paul is not a good example. I've even scaled back and wear more traditional age appropriate clothes ro gigs. Its not 1969. When I saw Cheap Tricks bass player Tom Petterson performing in a blue polo shirt and khakis, I sad that looks like where I should be. And what a cool 12 string Tom is playing. Blue -

Wigs and hair solutions are really good these days.It looks good but I still say both pics are some sort of hair solution. I really see nothing wrong wearing a wig. I'm losing a lot of hair and plan on researching what solution is besr for me. There must be someone here on BC that can spot these hair solutions other than me. Blue -
Meet The Beatles 1964 .The unmistakable sound of the Gernan made Hofner bass. I bought a German made Hofner Club a few years ago. It's everything I dreamed it would be Blue

Sorry Ive been watching Paul since 1964. I respectfully disagree. It was not British humour, it was British honesty.McCartney started thinning badley in the 90s You can hardly tell it's not his hair . Blue -

In a recent interview Paul McCartney was asked if The Beatles ever wore wigs. His response; No, The Beatles never wore wigs. He points to his head and says " This is a wig but it's dyed to make it more age appropriate". If it's good enough for Paul it's good enough for me. Blue -

In the 60s and 70s you could write songs and have a hit record and take it to the bank. That bank statement was a big money motivation. That was when people had to buy music. Music is free now. What's wrong with wanting and trying to look your best. Wigs and hair pieces are and have always been used in show business. Blue -
We played well enough, but the crowd got weak after the furst set. Plus we had a rehearsal the same morning from 11:00 -3:00. Went home, closed my eyes for 30 minutes then took of for a 5:30-8-30. Maybe I was just tired. And I have a 4:00- 7:00 today. Maybe being 66 is catching up with me. Blue
