  1. We did a Sunday afternoon Biker Bar gig, 3:00-7:00. Because of our festival and fair bookings all summer, this was our first 4 hour gig in 4 months. Playing 4 hours was a challenge for me, especially in a historic landmark building with no air conditioning. However, we drew a good Sunday afternoon crowd with lots of familiar faces. And this place is way out in the sticks. Tbe band sounded good . 1. Play a good show 2. Get the money 3. Get home safely Blue
  2. I've been playing clean and sober for the last 35 years. For me it's been fantastic. I like being in complete control, if my mind is altered by stimulants or alcohol I'm no longer in control. Blue
  3. When I play higher profile gigs it always been fast pace shows. I'm usuallyy too busy to get nervous. I can get nervous at times but it's usually not because of the size of the crowd but who's in tbe crowd. We have some local "heavy hitters" that can intimidate me. Blue
  4. Thd Baree gig last night was great. We played from 6:30-9:30,very appreciative crowd. We put on a good show Got the money Got home safely Blue
  5. Sounds like a nice fun weekend, nice to be busy. I have a triple header weekend. Blue
  6. I have an acoustic gig tonight and full Maple Road gig tomorrow night 6:30-9:30 Blue
  7. I'm 65, off topic. I have friends my age that will say, " She approached you to talk and take a selfie and you didn't get her phone number?" No, I didn't. I'm not 18 and I'm there to work not pick up women. I just want to go home. Blue
  8. Yeah, when space is tight it seems like it's always us that gets the short end of the stick Here's how I handle it; " There's not enough room for your amp, you'll have to DI through the PA." Me; "No , I'm playing through my amp" Blue
  9. The boat cruise was good .It was a lot of work but still fun We played 2 hours straight, no breaks. We were loud. Our band drew over 100 people that paid $25.00 a pop to see us. The crowd was fantastic Blue
  10. We have a boat cruze gig on Lake Michigan tonight. Join Maple Road aboard The Vista King Saturday Night 7/27/2019 9pm - 11pm Milwaukee Boat Line 101 W Michigan St, Milwaukee Blue
  11. If you don't have the gig bug now chances are gigging is not for you. For me, I still love the challenge of gigging. I like the demand of the skill sets necessary to make live performance work. But keep in mind playing in a band is not a fun hobby for me. Blue
  12. I think you also have to consider the level of an originals band The guys that have been around a particular scene for a while, the act is solid with a large number of fans can get good festival bookings. I'm not sure how it works for new guys starting out Blue
  13. Depends on what the originals scene is like where the band is playing. Festival gigs would be far and few in-between for local originals bands in my neck of the woods. I've seen it from both sides. Blue
  14. We had a monthly gig in Milwaukee, the hours we're 9:30-1:30. Home by 3:00. Blue
  15. I love gigging, however now at 66 years of age the 4 hour bar gigs are difficult for me for a myriad of reasons. Blue
  16. Last week's gig with The Charlie Daniels was fantastic. Yesterday we played a Harley Davidson Bash, 12:00-3:00. Harley always runs top notch events. However, we were not good yesterday. The crowd was small and we had to tear down when a huge storm blew in. It passed and we set up again. Then another storm came through and it poured. The sound crew's monitors got soaked. This has happened to many of you and it doesn't make you hate gigging. Like many other things it is part of the job, it goes with the territory. We'll all be laughing about it in the future. If stuff like this makes you hate gigging it's probably time to step down . Everybody has experienced bad gigs. Even The Stones & The Beatles had bad gigs. Blue
  17. Thanks Stub, Yes, it was backstage sitting in a big case on top of a whiskey barell. Blue

  19. Thanks BreadBin I don't get enough of playing big crowd gigs, so I savor every moment of these gigs When I'm on stage singing and looking out at that big crowd I remember dreaming of this type of experience when I was kid just starting to gig back in the mud 60s. Blue
  20. Thanks, It's so important to have fun. Easy to have fun at these big crowd gigs. The challenge is bringing the fun and positive attitude to the not so big problematic gigs. Blue
  21. Not a great performance, we're not tight and the parts are not great but it's where we're at and what we're doing this summer. Blue
  22. I'm actually really to pass the 4 hour bar gig torch to the new young bands. Blue Not the best sound or performance but it's what we're doing now.
