  1. Hi Dave, How are you doing? We added Althea to our set list. Sounds cool. I hold a strong position on playing for free. I really don't think playing for free applies to established gigging bands. With the investment our band has put into sound and lighting playing for free is not an option or even a thought. While I'm up there playing and grinning, I also want a little money in my pocket. Plus I've never seen any of these " I don't want or need the money" guys turn the money down. Blue

  3. Playing with " good people " who are all on the same page helps. I'd never be able to find another band like the one I've been in for the last 15 years. I'm in the best band I can be in. Blue
  4. Nice job! Blue
  5. I'll be 70 in a few months , started gigging at age 12 or 13 and I'm still having a blast. However, I found a band that was a perfect match for me. Good people, good gigs and good money. I get and understand your situation. Starting a band is a big pain and very frustrating. I get the feeling you're not as " done with it" as you think yoh are. Blue
  6. Great shot! Blue
  7. Saw Gov't Mule Thursday night. "Big Time" production ( 5 tour buses and 7 Semi Trucks.)Warren's voice was fantastic and every note, riff or chord he played was hot. Blue
  8. She's Right- I'm Left THIS SATURDAY! Hopefully Ma’ Nature cooperates! But if she’s in a mood, fear not, the show will go on indoors! It’d be great to see YOU! LIVE @ King Pin Bowl & Ale House West Bend WI That was last night. It was a 7-10 acoustic gig. Not bad, not great and kind of weird. Blue
  9. Depends on where you live and what opportunities there are for live music Plus having a band mate or agency that really understands booking. Blue
  10. Agreed Blue
  11. That would be an example of quality and quantity. Blue
  12. I'm looking forward to it. Last time I saw them was years ago when Woody was still with us. They opened for The Black Crows with Special Guest Jimmy Page. Blue
  13. Going to see Gov't Mule tomorrow night. $20.00, that's a fair ticket price. Festival seating. Blue
  14. Guys, I think you'll find with us seniors hours also play into quality. Most of us older guys don't want late night long hour gigs anymore. Fortunately I live in the Midwest 🇺🇸 where festivals and fairs are huge and present allot of opportunity for bands and most are early hour gigs and you're home by 8:00. I'll start another thread on tbe new Winery and Brewery market. These are the new quality gigs. Blue
  15. Travel became an issue for me. I was getting lost on the way to gigs and almost got into an accident one night. Our band leader found out about it and ever since they pick me up in the Maple Road van . So , I haven't had to drive to a gig in over 6 months. And this does play into " Quality". Not having to drive is really nice. Most of you know my band mates are half my age. Blue
  16. Agreed 👍 Blue
  17. Who is Hope & Wade? Blue
  18. What if they really enjoy listening to grunge and the experience your band brings ? Blue
  19. For me, when I was still working a traditional full time job gig money was extra cash to play with. When I retired gig money became a real and necessary income supplement. In someways I'll say quality is coming home from a showcase 60 minute gig with $450.00 in my pocket as opposed to $100.00 from a 4 hour pub gig. Blue

  21. Agreed , any gig where the crowd is decent and they're into tbe band is ideal. Blue
  22. That's cool. We've been having drummer issues and have been using allot of deps. Some have been ok and some could never find a groove. Blue
  23. I can't argue that one. Lol Blue
  24. We play originals and covers. We also have an acoustic offering. I use to think cover bands had it easy. But now, in my area even the good cover bands are struggling. Blue
