  1. Got it. Thanks Blue
  2. Agreed and you make a good point. Here's my thought. Pro Signed touring bands know how to rehearse when to rehearse and what to rehearse. Amateurs don't. My band would be considered amateur. Blue
  3. *We don't rehearse. But for those that do isn't it a good idea to have an agenda and know what you can realistically accomplish in a couple of hours ? I've been to these rehearsals in the past where there was no plan or structure in place. Blue * We don't rehearse, however I practice a few hours a day at home.
  4. Stonking ? Blue
  5. I can never really tell what we sound like or the details of our musicianship onstage until I see a video on Facebook. When I'm onstage I'm focused on my personal performance and making sure I catch all the cues from our band leader/ front person. Blue
  6. Nice, very cool gig story. Blue
  7. Agreed, lovely. Very warm. Blue
  8. I think the reason my band has stayed together for over 15 years is because we distance ourselves from each other. We rarely see each other outside of gigs. I also think it's the reason all our gigs are fun. Blue
  9. Nice Blue
  10. I love gigging. I need the money and the attention. A friend asked me why I still gig at 69 years old? My response, " The gardner doesn't applaud " Blue
  11. Agreed, we've been doing the same show for the past 5 years and we gig at least once a week. No need for rehearsals. Blue
  12. Ok, here's the story. Very well attended. It was a good gig even though I thought some songs were sluggish and I wasn't particularly happy with my playing. I walked out with *$140.00 bucks. Blue * If I was making big money I'd never post what I make. Since it's not allot of money I post it merely as a reference to what guys make in this local lane. Blue
  13. I've been there. Played with this front guy/ guitarist and song writer. This guy lived in a huge expensive home. I found out too late , all the guy wanted to do was play " rock star" in his basement. Blue
  14. That's slowly changing here. Pub and bar gigs used to always be 4 hours. It's just within the past couple of years that bands have been able to negotiate for 3 hours. It's not much of an issue for use .We don't gig as much as we use to because we really would rather take a pass on bar gigs and focus on showcase gigs and the larger festivals and fairs. Don't get me wrong the occasional bar comes up every once in a while. Blue
  15. Agreed, no band has to accept all gigs. We probably turn down more gigs than we accept. Blue
  16. I don't think any of us enjoy waiting around to go on or waiting for other bands to finish before we can go home. Blue
  17. Why not only play with bands that don't gig? Blue
  18. Woodwind, I've read the posts here. I don't think anyone hates gigging. I think we all struggle with certain aspects of gigging. The only exception would be for those who have a real fear of being on stage. Who hates a well paid 40 minute gig with first class dressing rooms and sound and lights provided ? I struggle with the longer gigs. 3 hours is our limit and even 3 hours are tough for me at my age ( 69 ). I also struggle with places that book bands but don't understand bands or how to treat them. Blue
  19. Thanks Dave, I hope all is well with you. Daryl
  20. Spend Thanksgiving Eve with Maple Road @The Barley Pop Germantown WI 11/23 7:30-10:30 Thanksgiving Eve is a big gigging night in the States. We have had success with our New Year's Eve gig at The Barley Pop.This is the first time we've played there on Thanksgiving Eve. I don't know what to expect. I'll let you know how it goes. Blue
  21. Cool , looks very historic. Blue
  22. It was a good gig. The 2 1\2 sets had a nice flow. I thought we sounded pretty good. Nice crowd and a few fans showed up. The Motor is always a nice gig. Blue
  23. Excellent, any serious gigging band is already heavily booked into 2023 and has some kind of business model in place and has a great network and connections. For bands that want to gig allot should understand it's hard work and not a hit or miss proposition. It's important to understand the value of your contacts. Losing a contact can be the kiss of death for a gigging band. Blue
  24. Good story. If I ever dep I'll make sure I ask a little bit about the folks I'm playing with. Blue
  25. Cool pics. Blue
