  1. Summerfest starts this Wednesday. I might see, Fog Hat, Foreigner, Elvin Bishop Samantha Fish. 800 bands booked over 11 days of fun and music and nothing but fun and music. Had to post a pic of Sam for you young single guys. Blue
  2. Great gig, we were on fire. Nice crowd, stage and backline. One hour gigs are so much easier to manage. Blue
  3. This was an acoustic gig. New restaurant, the owners wanted to try live music A conplete waste of time, playing to a small uninterested bar crowd. However, lots of stuff comped and good pay . Blue
  4. Nice event, nice weather, nice tent and wooden flat bed truck stage. Sound and lighting provided and good pay. We got there at 5:00 when the first band went on, the place was empty. By 7:30 right before we went on the place was packed. The band was loud but we were good last night. This crowd is there specifically for live music. Acoustic gig tonight at The Pearl of Canton in West Bend Blue
  5. I guess the booking can be a real challenge, maybe the bands they wanted were unavailable We host Summerfest here in Milwaukee, an 11 day event with 12 headliner main stages including The American Family Amphitheatre. There's so many bands you'd be hard pressed not to find a couple you like. $17.00 per day and $7.00 a day for Seniors like me. If you want to avoid the traffic and parking there are shuttles to the grounds in all surrounding counties. $3.00 round trip for Seniors. It might actually be free for us. We're on the stage with Lover Boy on 7/3. Why is Glastonbury so expensive? Blue
  6. Yes, but it might have been a little more than a month ago. I'm good for the summer. However, that's only because I've been included in all the acoustic bookings. Blue
  7. Busy weekend, triple header; 6/21/2019 7:30pm - 10pm Bank Rd, Oconomowoc Stone Bank Blues Fest 6/22/2019 Pearl of Canton 7:00-10:00 6/23/2019 1pm - 2pm Cedar Creek Park Portland Rd, Cedarburg Paramount Blues Bash Blue
  8. Agreed, We have 3 gigs coming up this weekend, hopefully we can redeem ourselves. Blue

  10. And when your up there playing Savoy Brown and Robin Trower it becomes even more of a challenge to connect with a family crowd. It all goes with the territory. I'm certainly not going to turn the money down. To my credit I went into the gig with a good attitude, had fun and left with a good attitude. That's not easy, especially when your physically beat up from playing on concrete for 4 hours.
  11. Not great, larger stage which always is a challenge for us. I wass not happy with my playing either.4 hours was rough. Decent size crowd marginally engaged with us. Oh well Blue
  12. Maple Road 6/15 Saturday Night 6:30pm - 10pm Regner Park Biergarten 800 N Main Street, West Bend It's an all day rain or shine festival, I think we have the last time slot. It's a 5 minute trip for me. Unfortunately these smaller local events don't seem to draw many people. I'll let you guys know what happens. Blue
  13. In my neck if the woods being "good" no longer means much. It's about who you know. Not much action for bass players or drummers at open mics/jams around here. Blue
  14. I don't know the story on TOPs missing bass player. I'm sure Emilio was not happy about it. Sorry guys but for me Rocco is one of those few guys that can't be properly replaced. As a matter of fact, IMO he can't be replaced period. Blue
  15. I've. never felt open jams were a vehicle for bass players. The open jams IMO is better suited for vocalists, guitar players and blues harp guys. Blue
  16. I think we're both experiencing what is known as " Pre- Death".😁 Blue
  17. Thanks 4 hours is taking its toll on me. The summer won't be too bad because the festival and big stage gigs are an hour to an hour and a half. Blue
  18. We played the 2nd annual Beer On The Bridge in Grafton. A 4 hour gig, good pay and tips. However, the overall accommodations for the band was pretty "ghetto". But I'm working so I won't complain. Blue
  19. When someone wants me to sign a CD, my response should be; " You don't get out much, do you? Blue
  20. Signing CDs for people at gigs always seems awkward to me. If I ask for a signature they better be famous. Blue
  21. If I'm out at the local market mainly Aldi, occasionally a local will say, " Don't you play guitar with Maple Road?" My favorite story took place in 1971. My band won first place in the annual High School "Band In". Winning was a big deal, we went on to a State competition and the prize was $500.00. That was a lot of cash for a bunch of 16 year olds in 1972. A week after the competition I was in. New York City at famous Manny's Music and some guy came up to me and recognizes me at congratulated me on the win. I thought I was Star for the rest of the day. Blue
  22. Fortune and Fame has passed by many of us. That's not a big deal, occasionally we're out and about and someone recognizes you. YAY! Share your brief brush with fame where someone local recognizes you when your not performing. Blue
