Playing another acoustic gig tonight. This one is at The Sprecher Tap in Milwaukee, 6:00-9:00. It's some sort of 420 celebration. Anyway, these acoustic gigs have been a life saver for me. I can actually hear myself and I really like the hours. I'll be home by 11:00. Blue

Big name Brits that didn't crack the US

Yeah, I discussed The Kinks with a few Kinks fans and they said the same thing. "Shenanigans" Blue -
Things have really picked up out of nowhere with all these acoustic gigs. Well, not really out of nowhere. I have a suspition about why I started getting these acoustic offers. I played Cafe Soeurette Saturday night from 7-10 ,great hours and a nice engaged crowd. I'm playing a Sprecher Micro Brewery gig this Saturday night. I also found out my primary band will be opening for a national headliner at a large country festival this summer. 3 weeks ago I had nothing. Blue

Did The Kinks ever break America? Singing about tea and biscuits might have gotten away from us.😁 Blue -
More Rolling Stones more Stones more Stones .

Bernard is a hired gun, not a member I'm not sure many people know who Bernard is. He played a small bar in Milwaukee a few years ago and there were no more than 20 people in attendance. Blue -

Ronnie became a full member of the Stones a few years ago. It took a long time. I doubt Daryl Jones or any other Anerican hired guns will ever be a member of The Stones. Blue -
I had 2 acoustic gigs last week. Both were a lot of fun. Nice crowds and I could hear myself. I learned a lot from this. I can't put my nose up to work and it's nice to be called on for work. Blue

Yeah, I can and I should. Thing is I'd have to figure out how to expand non-existent network. I'll take advantage of going out and doing these acoustic gigs. Blue

As some of you know my band is in transition. We're losing a founding member, guitar, vocals , blues harp and bookings. The booking ball was dropped and our normally busy summer season is weak. I was whizzed at how this happened. I'm the only retired person in the band that needs the money.I had nothing for April and May. My discontent must have made it to someones ear. I actually had 2 gigs this week Acoustic gigs. I played 35 minutes at the BlondiPop Thursday night and 5:30- 8:30 at The Harley Davidson Museum Restaurant last night. Great load in and parking, a really posh place with nice class of patrons. The staff was great. I use to poo poo acoustic gigs, " me, I don't do acoustic gigs. I'm beyond that" Well , I was beyond it until I was slapped in the face with reality. I'm in no position to turn down any kind of paying offer. Guys, I learned my lesson and have stepped down from my ' high horse". Blue

That's a great story with a happy ending. If you don't check these guys out you never know what might happen. I've seen it where a band will bring someone on and find they can't even respond to a text message regarding a gig schedule. Or find out after the fact the guy has transportation issues or has a traditional job that interferes with the band. All stuff the band should have known before bringing someone in. Blue

They'll come a time when I can't do it. If it can happen to Mick it can happen to me. Prayers for a fast recovery Mick. Blue

Acoustic gig last night. Blue

Agreed And in my neck of the woods it's easier to book an acoustic act. Blue Shield

Even at 66 years old, I like gigging 3 nights a week. Blue

For me it's all about bookings. No matter how good you are if you don't have consistent bookings it's not for me. Blue

When your 66 like me, you won't have to worry about groupies anymore. They're not interested. Blue

As long as you confirm the songs you pick are songs they know and still perform . This is what you don't want. You get to the audition and you get; " Oh, we don't play that one anymore" Blue
-
Hi Pete, Yeah I don't really like auditions. Ideally if a guy is in the right circles they get called for good projects. Unfortunately that's not me. As you know my band is in transition right now and we're not gigging as much. I have been asked to do some acoustic gigs and I've accepted them. The pay is actually better with better hours. Daryl

I expect and audition to be structured. Where the band will give you 3- 4 songs to audition. If it's a " come jam with us" or they ask me to pick 4 songs from their set list, I'll decline the audition. Blue

Thanks for reading my thread. .I usually ask how much the job pays and how I'm paid after I've been offered the job. Blue
-
Nice! I like the solution approach. Bands that are auditioning have a problem and they're looking for a solution. If you can get a " heads up" on what's going on with a band in terms of that problem your already ahead of the game. Blue Blue

A noticable comand of the genre would be something I hope I bring to the table. Blue

I'm not sure what I bring or how I come across at auditions.I would hope I come across as experienced and prepared at the bare minimum. I won't audition if I'm not prepared, I'll cancel first. I won't audition for a band if I know I'm not a good match for the band. Blue

We've been auditioning guitarist recently to replace a founding band member. Interesting how some guys show up unprepared and lack luster for a money making opportunity . And some guys show up prepared, professional, interested and with stand out style and abilities. What do you think you bring to an audition and how you come across at an audition? Blue

Now that I think about it , how can Paul McCartney be overrated. It doesn't make sense to me. Blue
