  1. We're they around before The Beatles? I don't know Blue
  2. Yup to all that. Excellent commentary Chris B. Blue
  3. More money from playing bass and even more money from being one of the most prolific song writers of our time. No other bass player has Paul's credentials. Blue
  4. I would say at some level we're all influenced by McCartney whether we know it or not, whether we accept it or not.The chain is always going to lead back to McCartney in my opinion. In the States most of us weren't thinking about the electric bass guitar until we saw McCartney in 1964. As a matter of fact we didn't know what an electric bass guitar was. Blue
  5. I love that tune. Over here some might call it "Ghetto". The bass player is walking his butt off, especially on the bridge. Blue
  6. Love that surf sound. Blue
  7. This by no means what I would call smooth over produced funk. I think " Funny Walk" was released in 1967. It's raw and fabulous. Incredible groove and vocals. Blue
  8. I'm a 66 year old Beatles fanatic. However if I've learned anything from this forum it's how popular The Shadows were in England. We knew about The Shadows here in the States but I guess there wasn't room for them and The Beatles. Blue
  9. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. Blue
  10. " We Don't Do Live Music Anymore" "Closed" To phrases we hear a lot in my neck of the woods. Blue
  11. Understood, I'll tell you, that Hofner Violin Bass was certainly and "eye catcher" for us kids in the States. Blue
  12. I really don't think so. The band leader is a milinnial, they think so differently from an old baby boomer like me. Plus her acoustic duo has bookings and they're doing fine. Blue
  13. The thing with Paul is, no other bass guitarist will go down in history as being one of the most prolific song writers ever. Blue
  14. Was this before Paul and his Hofner bass. I've never heard of Jet. Blue
  15. St. Patrick day bar gig at The BlondePop. It was an 8-12 gig, place was packed. We were awful. I'm having serious thoughts about getting out. My band is falling apart after 16 years. Blue
  16. And we respect Paul because he didn't have 50 years of Rock & Roll bass playing and hundreds of bass players to look back on and draw from. Paul was pioneer. Blue
  17. If I could meet any famous bass player Paul would be number 1 on my list. Blue
  18. I was 9 or 10 years old in 1964. I definitely had never seen or heard of an electric bass guitar until I saw The Beatles. Blue
  19. Plus, he had a huge truck. We're losing that too. Blue
  20. I don't think most even knew what an electric Bass Guitar was until Paul showed us. Blue
  21. Lack of talent, our guitarist sang a lot of lead vocals, plays great blues harp, did all the bookings and his wife did all the administration ( paying the band, managing our website, Instagram and email campaigns) Plus a lot of guys don't like gigging a lot anymore. I have not been impressed with any of the guys that we've auditioned. Unprepared and no enthusiasm. Blue
  22. No gigs until Saturday night. First gig since New Year's. We're losing a founding member and along with schedule conflicts because the BL has an acoustic duo act. The band leader stopped booking because of the difficulty in replacing a founding member who's leaving us in September, but he doesn't want to add anymore gigs to our schedule. This is an awful time for me. I'm the only retired person in the band. Well, It was a great 8 year run, can't ask for more than that. I won't be looking for another band. There are no bands in my area that gig consistently. All there are is " for fun " bands and bands that might gig once every 2 months. I have no interest in those kinds of bands. Blue
  23. I haven't read any of the comments so this may have been answered. The MM Sire is not a high end bass, right? Is it more if a $400.00 Chinese made bass? Blue
