Yeah, I guess there are somethings you can't cover with questions. I remember auditioning for a band once and I could tell from they're personalities they'd never leave the basement. Blue

I do a lot of home work and ask a lot of questions before I audition. I never audition unless I really want to be in the band. So, I would never turn down an offer. Why would you turn down an offer, didn't really want to be in the band, found out things about the band after the audition that made you turn down the offer? Blue

Just remember some of the best bass players are not the best band members. Blue

Everyone I've known that has purchased a looper pedal has never used it or bothered to learn how to use it. Blue

We did the 7:30- 11:30 at Fat Charlie's in Ritchfield last night. Another good gig. I guess Thanksgiving Eve is also a big party night. Good crowd including several long time fans I hadn't seen for a while. And the room isn't as separated from the bar as I thought. Fun night. Blue

Ok, The Filmore House gig was cool. Small rural party bar. Nice people come there to relax ,party and get loaded and they love live bands. I arrived at 7:00 and couldn't even find a parking space and eventually had to park illegally. Overall it was a fun gig, the band sounded great last night. Very "old school" rock bar gig. Such a nice crowd. It was an 8:00-12:00 gig, the BL didn't call for a break until 10:15. So playing 2 hours plus without a break was a little weird. At one point I thought it was 1972. I had a fun night guys. Blue

There are excellent YouTube bass tutorials for all those songs. You should be able to nail all those songs if you really want to be in this band. Blue

Good point, but exactly why I say ask questions prior to the audition and it has to be a really good reason you want to be in a band. And for some bands knowing the material alone isn't enough to get in. You might live too far from gigs and rehearsals. I read a story about a guy that auditioned for Prince and didn't get in because he didn't have the look for the band. Blue

No, however, I don't veiw Fleets material as new. To me they're a tribute band. There is nothing new about Fleet to me. Blue

Your only inadequate if you don't know why you want to be in this band. 8 years ago I knew exactly why I wanted to be in my current and only band. I practiced hours on end until I owned the audition material. Blue

It depends on the band and the opportunity. I've seen, and as others here everything from showing up to audition and the band didn't even know all 6 songs to auditioning and never getting to all 6. Blue

I grew up with Led Zeppelin, why would I need this? Sorry folks, I've heard Led Zeppelin tribute bands that blow this band away. Blue

It's better to know 4 of the 6 like the back of your hand than 6 half arsed. Blue

The first step should be a definitive answer to this question. "Why do I want to be in this band?" If there's a good reason you want in, make a playlist of the 6 songs and spend hours practicing them until you own them. If you don't know why you want to be in this band cancel the audition. There's better ways to spend your time. Blue

I was in a band with a guy that would do stuff like this. He would write fake press releases, fake gig reviews, post fake interviews. Thing was, the guy could sing had great material and the band was tight. At the end of the day, the guy was an idiot and only wanted to play "rock star" in his basement. He's easy to spot in the pic, a real "tool". Blue

That's usually my first thought with auditioning anyone. Does their partner know about this and ok with it. Let's say your a busy gigging bar band and you audition a guitar player. He's good, but he's young with a full time day job, married with for children under the age of 7. Sorry, but not the ideal time in life to be in a busy local "bar band". Blue

I think overall for any opportunity you have to ask questions. What's outlined in an ad isn't always the truth. I'm sure some of you have seen ads for the " established band" with gigs on the books. And it turns out to be 2 guys trying to reform or salvage what used to be an established band with gigs. Blue

Did you guys ask him about his level of experience in bands and gigging before you auditioned him? Blue

I'm to stubborn to play anything other than a 4. When I started playing bass guitar there was no such thing as a 5 string. Plus, I play the more classic vintage bass guitars, German Hofners, Gibson Les Paul Bass,and the ES-335. All those basses are only available in 4s. Blue

I always have fun but I don't play for fun. 60s and 70s rock is vast and would cover a lot of different types of rock. Early 60s could be a lot different than mid or late 60s. Same for the 70s. Blue
