  1. Look good those Corts
  2. Sigh now forlornly looking for the elusive Fender!
  3. I’ve never heard of them really ludicrously cheap.
  4. I’ m not completely into the way it looks but you can’t fault the price. I’ve had a couple of Yamahas in the past and they were great.
  5. The Sandberg looks great but a bit pricey and I saw a second hand Spectorcore for less but around £800 is probably my max. I’m unlikely to gig with it but I’d like something comfortable to play.
  6. All this working from home has made my eyes wander towards a new bass I don’t need. I’m currently thinking about a lightweight and not too expensive 5. Does anyone have any recommendations? Not hugely keen on the ibbies with the tiny headstocks but don’t mind modern looking, quite like the look of the Spectorcore but I’d probably want fretted and haven’t seen any reviews of the fretted version and I’m a wee bit concerned it might be a bit semi acoustic and old school.
  7. Hi Anon, thanks for the reply, great to hear you had a good experience. I think the inventor, Alun Jones died quite suddenly and the company stopped trading. He invented the Ashbory bass (I’ve spent the night googling). I bought two unused twin transducer versions so looking forward to trying them out.
  8. Hi Has anyone got info for or experienced of an Ashworth Electronics AJ301P Double Bass Transducer. Just picked one up. I know they went out of commission a while back but very little info available.. All the best S
  9. The rubber ripped almost immediately but Thomann gave me a few quid off which was good. But otherwise it's really great.
  10. I ended up buying this and apart from the rubber being a bit thin it’s excellent.
  11. Does anyone have experience of Evah Solos? I just got a set of Spirocore Solos for a half size bass, I really like them but was a bit surprised by the thinness of the G. I’m thinking of solo sets for another couple of basses and wondered how the Evahs stacked up. Cheers!
  12. I ended up buying one of these. It’s for a double bass but I saw one with a cello and it looked great. It’s not for gigging but looks nice so can live in the sitting room. Also I find myself sitting on the arm of the sofa to practice and this is the same height... that and the fact I’m addicted to buying things
  13. Bought a set of half size spiro solos, my bass has had a neck repair and I’m quite keen on having as low a tension as possible! I was looking to get a set for my 3/4 but I’ll try them on this first.
  14. Hi i have a really nice old strange sized German DB bigger than a 1/4 but smaller than 1/2 which I use at home. I have a half size set of preludes on at the moment been on the bass for a long time albeit with very little play. I was wondering if there are any other string recommendations, maybe a bit more flexible? Or just stick with the preludes? Cheers S
  15. Looks great
  16. I just looked and apparently a cello is only 30 inches so much bigger than might need to look at a DB stand. Is your Hercules stand big?
  17. I have an unusual old bass, smaller than a half but bigger than a quarter. I’m looking for a stand just for in the house, not live or anything. I was thinking I could maybe get away with a Hercules cello stand, I don’t want a big massive thing.... any ideas isolated bass folk?
  18. Hi folks gator looks good and the Reunion Blues RBX also interesting pricier but lighter! I saw a Canto which I believe are made by Public Peace which looked good also. I'm literally walking 50 yards into the studio a few days a week just can't be bothered carrying cases!
  19. Hi looking for a double gigbag recommendations, just for rehearsals for the back of the car. Save me carting around cases. Not wanting to spend a fortune but still want something decent. cheers
  20. I recently bought a second hand Valeton Bass Dapper multi effects (looks like a Sansamp Fly Rig). The unit has an issue where one effect (Dirty Q) randomly switches on. The switch for the particular effect sometimes does not work. It seems like an electrical thing as turning on the other effects sometimes activates the Dirty Q and even turning the gain of another effect up can result in the effect turning on. Incidentally when the unit powers on the problematic Dirty Q effect is always on and the other effects are off, so it could potentially be the switch or a loose connection and also the power supply, which is not the original seems like not a great fit. It's a cheap thing so I'm not keen to spend to much getting it fixed by a tech but I might do. I'd be happy to ditch the Dirty Q effect altogether as it's something that only holds novelty value for me. Anyone come across this kind of fault? Any info much appreciated! All the best S
  21. getting a luthier to replace the binding, with side in the more normal position!
  22. Hi I’ve just bought a fretless and the side dots are not on the fretlines but where dots would be on a fretted bass! Has anyone added side markers? I’m thinking of getting a luthier to add some side lines but any other ideas appreciated!
  23. Thanks for all the info chaps!
  24. Cheers for the replies!
  25. Hi Chaps I know the forum is a Ric free zone but can I post if I am looking for one potentially for trade in the for sale section or is the mere mention of the clank stick verboten? All the best S
