  1. I own 2 Hohner Professional series bass guitars now - the build quality is excellent. The other one I have here belongs to a mate, it's been absolutely battered and neglected but it looks like a good clean and a setup will see it well usable. Other than the flimsy pickup surrounds it's survived pretty well, although I haven't tested the electrics yet (partly because it only has an XLR out)
  2. I was at Trowbridge Festival this weekend, at Stowford farm in Farleigh Hungerford. If there's a finer location for a festival in the UK I am unaware of it. Highlights were.. Amy from the Woods - mad and very funny The Hat Club - energetic and technical ska grooves Mr Tea and the Minions - bouncy balkan gypsy vibes. A welcome return to Stowford, much fun was had by all.
  3. Photo number 6 clearly shows the neck, it's nothing like straight.
  4. They don't make money being sexist, they make money taking the p!ss out of sexism. It's an important distinction, and one that also applies to Spinal Tap and Bad News.
  5. I purchased a set of Jazz bass hardware from @Beedster and all was good
  6. Hi Jeff - welcome! At the bottom left of each post is a Quote option, simply press this and the post you are trying to answer will appear in the reply box. You can add multiple quotes to a single reply if you wish. Hope that helps
  7. I purchased some bass components from @orangepeelneil and couldn't be happier.
  8. Local legends! This is probably better suited to the tenuous claims to fame thread - I used to rent a room from D1ck Lucas' brother
  9. Do you have show signatures enabled in the settings?
  10. The ones I linked to are metal, I am hoping they will be a bit more sturdy.
  11. I am still in the same boat as you @SpondonBassed You can get pickup surrounds, these are the same size as 'standard' guitar humbuckers however they all have one central screw hole per side. Eg.. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F400452775395 I am going to get a pair of these and drill to suit leaving an unused hole on one side.
  12. Every switchable active bass I have increases the volume, some quite significantly. Unless I am using them incorrectly? I fitted a series parallel switch to my Retrovibe Evo and that's the same - series is ridiculous!
  13. Har me too, the active switch on Dolores opens the gates of hell!
  14. Was going to say just this. The main reason for sound guys wanting the bass direct is so there won't be any unexpected volume jumps.
  15. I went to the last day of the Once Upon a Time in the West festival yesterday, just a couple of fields over from my house! Some good bands to be seen - SN Dubstation were particularly good - a bunch of young lads from Swindon with a lot of energy, local legends Far Cue show no signs of slowing down and a group called Monkey Bizness made a good noise, with a headless Steinberger providing deep dub basslines. Some quality cider from our old mate Denis France of the Presshead Cider Company too!
  16. I've liked the Femmes since the late 80s, was introduced to them and Bauhaus amongst others by a guy from South Africa.
  17. Have you heard The Anatomy Of? That's a good one of theirs
  18. Rotosound Monel 77s maybe?
