  1. Oh I missed it! The last time I saw it was a special anniversary screening in Bristol Imax with an intro from Michael Palin (its his favourite film) plus a long and very funny intro from Harry Shearer, both recorded just for this showing. It was a fantastic night, a cinema full of laughter is a great experience.
  2. My band is back to a 3-piece, our drummer couldn't commit the time (he has a young family, it's all amicable and doors are open) so we have decided to use backing tracks instead. We still play the same instrumental and vocal parts but with either programmed or recorded drums and crucially now all the extra parts that are in the studio versions. This has been a revelation, the added dimension of all the synth lines and extra orchestration make things sound amazing. We still have dynamic range it just sounds better!
  3. I'll happily play a 5-string in C standard tuning. It's a good workout.
  4. Wow, that's a weird one! I haven't experienced it, sounds quite disorientating. Well done for keeping going 👍
  5. Do none of you realise the song is over 50 years old? It's hardly getting down with the kids is it! She sings it bloody well imo.
  6. I have a fretless silver 410, but its a bit battered.
  7. I still have the ex- @Bassassin early 70s P bass. It mostly just hangs on the wall looking purty.
  8. It's very difficult to avoid as they are a pull through design. I'm quite tempted to bust out the dremel and turn one into a top loader...
  9. I find they do, when changing strings. I'm in the habit now of resetting them before I tune up for the first time.
  10. Another early birthday session yesterday, this one was for both the singer/guitarists in the band who celebrated their 40th and 50th in the week. A tad bittersweet as our drummer has had to go on hiatus due to not having the time to commit. He has a young family so it's understandable, no bridges have been burned and the doors are all open. We're going to gig as a 3-piece but with backing tracks for now. We played an absolute blinder, people watched and were appreciative. The sound was good despite a cobbled together selection of kit which I managed to wrangle a decent noise out of! My bass decided to get a spangle on afterwards...
  11. 87.3% of statistics are made up.
  12. I'm still not quite able to pull the trigger, but am wondering is this 34" scale?
  13. Mockingbird is a BC Rich model 👍
  14. I showed this to my GF who knows very little about bass and she said "Oh!" 😟
  15. Action looks pretty low in the video, looking at the dusty end it's definitely in normal electric bass territory.
