  1. Jeff Beck, is a legend with an enormous body of work.
  2. I regret not buying the only fretless Retrovibe Zygote on the planet.
  3. Any fan of The Goldbergs TV series will have heard of Rush.
  4. I agree, whilst technically brilliant where is the melody? Music needs to be appreciated by non-musicians too. Proof of the saying - just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
  5. I've broken a couple back when I used to play heavy stuff at a million miles an hour, but not for ages. Normally the E string on a 4er, whilst going for it. There's a recording somewhere of me breaking one playing Born to be Wild about 40bpm too fast - you can actually hear it stretch out. That one broke right under my plucking hand.
  6. Festival sound is a totally different proposition to venue type gigs, my brother has been doing it for over 20 years and is bloody awesome at it.
  7. ^^ Badumtish! I've already posted on another thread about the pro percussionist who blew my mind with his skill on a triangle - he had a whole bag full of different devices and was adept with them all. I rate him as one of the most dedicated and skilled musicians I have ever encountered.
  8. I must watch this, and nice to hear that about the spanners
  9. I get 'Listing not found'
  10. I would have said that Rickenbacker is more of an original VW Beetle - old design with massive flaws but loads of people still really like them.
  11. ^^ what he said The trick is to make it wider, but not deeper...
  12. If everyone uses a mic with the same peak at 2k then it's harder to separate them, with a flat mic you can eq in your own presence at different frequencies and tailor it to suit the individual better.
  13. The 58 is the default choice for most, I prefer the sound of a 57 as it has a flat response without the presence peak at 2k.
  14. Don't forget the Legacy and Outback - the higher quality and more understated Subaru models
  15. I bloody love Dev too, the last 3 gigs I have been to were either DTP or Dev solo. I have to agree with you there, good music can make me laugh, cry or dance around the room. Or all of the above! David Maxim Micic is really good, and I have a lot of time for Twelve Foot Ninja too
  16. Wow! Shame you don't have any 'before' pics though. Nice work, looks lovely
  17. Not exactly, more like really high speed playing with variable left hand muting creating a kind of phase/flange effect. Kind of like triangle through a Wah pedal. This guy is an amazing percussionist, possibly the best I have ever seen.
  18. If it sounds terrible everywhere but the desk - still blame the engineer for not leaving the desk to check the rest of the venue. Every good engineer I know will check that the mix at the desk is representative, or get a trusted assistant to check for them if required.
  19. I have seen a professional percussion player make some incredible sounds with a triangle. He's the only one though.
  20. I'm not sure I've ever sounded that good!
