  1. I can bring a set of electro/acoustic bass strings for the raffle if that's any use? I'm planning on bringing a selection of my bass guitars too, just the interesting ones and probably my little Marshall practice amp as the sound of the fan in my Hartke will probably cause offence!
  2. ^^ exactly my attitude. I worked out I have spent around 3.5k and could see closer to 5k back thanks to some lucky buys.
  3. I like themes in my collecting, I used to have four fake Fenders (and one real) but that is now three with one more for sale. I have a thing for natural wood finishes, and am liking the idea of companions for the ones I really like! My current count stands at 18, with one for sale and at least one more going up for sale this weekend but I really struggle to let any go..
  4. I got the same email, but am also already registered.
  5. You should contact them, there should be a code on the packaging. I love D'addario strings, and if you register the codes online for points you can get free stuff including new strings
  6. I like them, and want to try as many as possible so I try to buy low in order to not lose too much money. I have recently picked up some real bargains that have sat unused and unloved for years, cleaned them, set them up with new strings and then sold on for a very modest profit. The hope is that I can gradually trade up to some more exotic models. They are all different, and I find that I play differently as a consequence.
  7. Well I didn't know that This one would make an ideal companion to mine, but I need to sell a couple first (and I have difficulty letting them go!)
  8. That's nice, and is a good price in my opinion. That bridge isn't standard, but looks good quality.
  9. I didn't like dance music, then Leftfield came along and changed everything.
  10. He has loads of guitars and basses for sale, all Thomann seconds.
  11. There is no right or wrong answer to that question - you just have to try them and see. I don't like 38mm myself, but others do.
  12. The guy on eBay is selling for about the same price or more than a non D-marked model from Thomann. I'd call that deliberately dishonest.
  13. I got caught out by this guy, before I was aware of Thomann selling D marked models. Mine seems OK, but obviously resale value is affected.
  14. I am always browsing for more basses and will certainly recognise that if it comes up.
  15. A bit cheeky this, in my opinion. You can clearly see the D stamp below the neckplate in photo 3. I got caught out by the same seller once.. EBay link
  16. I have one of these, 34" scale. It's by Hutchins..
  17. I think the issue for me is what appears to be a really nice bass being let down by shoddy finishing. I shall look at improving the wiring and maybe use the Glockenklang somewhere else. I have a few old basses that could use some help with worn-out pots etc. I have a Line 6 XT Pro that does all the pre-amp stuff for me btw
  18. Aargh! I don't need any more bass guitars but one of these just got added to my unicorn list. I remember looking at the bass in Mike's studio and thinking it looked amazing, that may have been one of the reasons I picked up the bass myself
  19. The soldering is quite shoddy, maybe a better photo will show what I mean. I have already cleaned out most of the excess solder stuck to the inside of the cavity..
  20. Thanks, it is a nice looking thing and it plays really well. However the wiring is pretty poor, I was quite disappointed when I took the cover off.
  21. It's evil - if you play sat down the lower horn has a bit that stabs you in the leg whilst the same feature on the upper horn sticks into your sternum! My stepdaughter reckons it looks like a chicken.
