  1. I started with a Fender Bassman 100 + the old wardrobe sized 4x12. This caught fire. A Laney PL100 combo was next. This expired with a pop-weeeee sound. Then I had a couple of Ashdown Evo 300s, with a mixture of Ashdown and Bugera cabs. Still have a Bugera 2x10 but sold the rest as I didn't enjoy the sound. Next up a TCE BG250 208, nice and light but a little gutless without an extension cab. I swapped this for a 1x15 version which is the amp I currently use the most. I also have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 which I run through a Taurus 4x10 if I need to get loud but this rarely happens. Am eyeing up either an all valve head to replace the Genz (Ampeg etc) or possibly something like the Purple Chili rig in the classifieds if it's still around at the end of the month.
  2. I'm still not over Chris, I can't listen to Gasoline without tearing up. Weirdly I can listen to Soundgarden ok but that song just hits me.
  3. Thanks! It came to me like that 🙂 I don't usually name them but this one has stuck.
  4. If one is merely dipping a toe in fretless waters a good budget option is the Harley Benton Progressive - surprisingly decent and compares favourably with much more expensive instruments.
  5. My rig for our upcoming Franz Nicolay support slot
  6. Thanks! Yes, we are really looking forward to it 🙂 Taking this one very seriously, we have a job to do and professionalism is the watchword.
  7. Quite excited to be doing this one with my band Aimless Arrows https://thepumptrowbridge.co.uk/franz-nicolay/
  8. We are a fortunate bunch! We record all our practice too, a real luxury compared to how things used to be..
  9. That's my mates shed - it's alarmed and insulated so we can leave it setup to go all the time. That's a proper old Leslie equipped Hammond in the background!
  10. I got the 800mm as I was running out of room on my existing 600mm jobby from Thomann. £36 delivered was ridiculously cheap! It's a little bit bigger than I expected 🤣 Interestingly they are obviously both made in the same factory. All the fittings and fixtures are identical.
  11. I have 4 different drive options on my board. I guess I've just been lucky.
  12. That's a de-fret rather than an original fretless
  13. I'd just make up a phase switch cable. It's not hard.
  14. I have a much simpler and cheaper setup. One of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255992453701 And one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266100485406 Works great 👍
  15. Have you been picking up messages from the RIP Norm thread? https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/475471-rip-norm/
  16. Awesome, thanks! I'll probably try them on my HB fretless 👍
  17. It's great isn't it? They have live music every night 🙂
  18. Saw three bands at the Louisiana in Brisso last night. Some doom-y sludge fun from Orcon. An unremarkable middle set and then some proper quirky weirdness from a pair of lads going by the name of Vetna. A real journey through pretty much all of the genres - it was a bit like the soundtrack to a low budget sci-fi film and really quite enjoyable.
  19. They used to do both - a very good friend, now sadly departed was their Malcolm for many years. They are a very professional bunch with a 6-figure turnover.
  20. Also worth noting that a simple volume pedal allows you to switch between 2 different setups.
  21. Heartily agree, I love my Poly Blue 👍
