  1. When the groove kicks in around 1:35 😎
  2. The video is a large part of Thicke's undoing, IMO.
  3. Quite, there is nothing good about that. A truly low point in popular culture.
  4. Ian Dury and the Blockheads were an integral part of my upbringing, so much so that I really badly want to take Derek the Draw's place. His delivery is just too low key, Ian had real fire in him. Andy Serkis was incredibly good - the audio is him singing with the Blockheads throughout, I wish I had seen them perform together.
  5. Have you tried this Stew? https://images.app.goo.gl/S5G8oBdnbsLkzkMY7
  6. Those ball races are just lovely, definitely a problem that needed fixing.
  7. ^^ That's a great clip, there's two bass players on stage and a fair bit of keys as well mind. Can't argue with the sound, funky and chunky!
  8. I respectfully disagree, the Zutons original is far less cheesy. This definitely brings something to the table 👍 https://youtu.be/H4hGSR5njZE
  9. Another song on my list of tunes I'd like to cover as a vocalist - pitched down somewhat of course. When Doves Cry didn't have a bass line either - another massive hit 👍
  10. I had a very similar comment from a lady I was friends with, it changed our friendship for ever! I don't mean that we hooked up or anything, but there was a different level of openness.
  11. I think you have come to the wrong forum, this is for players of bass guitar - many of whom are quite narrow minded in the music they like. Good luck 👍
  12. Florence Welch sings in her natural accent. I've really warmed to her recently.
  13. I'm the opposite, I enjoy the authenticity. One of the reasons I can't stand The Magic Numbers is their over the top fake American accents.
  14. Public Image Ltd. Album and Happy? are still in my playlists.
  15. By using the frequencies in the chart shown earlier? @Dood has just proven that using subjective terms can easily lead to misunderstanding, which is the point I am trying to make. Even the chart of subjective terms refers to the frequency in hertz, I get the impression that you are just being deliberately obtuse. We can't even get a consensus in this thread despite having a chart to cross reference against, yet there is a perfectly acceptable and universally recognised scale to refer to which you seem unreasonably averse to using.
  16. Interesting, so essentially artists talk a lot of guff which techs have to somehow translate into reality 😂😛
  17. Very few people do have perfect pitch, but what you call honk will translate to a certain frequency. Learn what that frequency is, communicate that frequency to others and there is no room for interpretation. Other people will have a different impression of what constitutes honk, but 500hz is always 500hz. Lighting is far less subjective, not really a comparable point in my opinion.
  18. There's every point - learn the frequencies for clear accurate communication. I used to run live monitors and could eliminate feedback really quickly by knowing which frequency to cut on an equaliser.
  19. Most of the pro engineers I know use the frequency in Hz as a reference. It's a measurable and demonstrable absolute, not subjective. IE - 3db cut at 500hz, instead of roll off a bit of honk.
